Elite: Dangerous Subscription / Cost options?

I'm sorry if this is listed somewhere and I've missed it.

What are the Elite: Dangerous options for the game going forward?

I find myself already wanting this game to succeed, and after being disappointed by other game's post-beta / Kickstarter / Pay for Early access Approaches, I'm concerned about Elite: Dangerous's approach to income to keep the game going.

I understand that this is a 'One time purchase to get into the game' approach. (Buy the game)
I understand that there are (Non Pay to Win) options for In-Game Items. (Item Store)
I understand that there are going to be 'add-on' expansions. (Expansion Pack Purchases)

But if there isn't a 'subscription' or other form of income, how can we expect the same level of Amazing Awesomeness, when we all know it's pretty expensive to develop something that will make money as a one-time optional purchase that may not appeal to the masses?

So are there 'subscription' options or other methods I am unaware of?

I really want this Universe to succeed, and thrive! (Already)

There are no plans for subscription.

However, given that P2P networking is being used, the cost to supporting multiplayer is reduced.

David Braben has stated it at various conventions and in interviews, the game will be supported by the kickstarter funds, store purchases, and Frontier's income from other projects.

I find it ironic that other games that use 'Subscriptions' as a way to extort and squeeze more money from their clients usually provide a game that dies out rather quickly and ungracefully.

Compared to a game that is competent in approach, and thoughtful of it's clients...

It just feels funny to have already bought into a Lifetime of Free Upgrades of this game, and not ever have to pay another cent for it.

It's almost downright thievery! I feel obligated to help the E:D cause!

I guess I'll be purchasing a lot of Paint Skins and additions.

Are there going to be more things in the Item Store than just paint skins? I can't think of anything else that would be compliant with the (No Pay to Win) strategy!

I imagine there will be a lot in the store to get your hands on. Paints, interiors, access to particular systems, embellishments to ships and probably a bunch of other things I can't think of. Plus there will be merch...lots of merch

I do think ED has been a bit too generous. However games with devoted fan bases can make a good deal on cosmetic purchases (like DotA), but I think they need stuff a bit more compelling than an alternate paint job. A luxury cockpit interior overhaul would be a lot more interesting to me! Or customization for the look of your weapons or alternate laser colors! I personally don't feel as if a new paint job is worth $5. I will consider it just to support Frontier, but if it weren't for that, no way!

Actually, upgrading your HUD, or interior purchases (which are quite amazing already) would be good.

I've already purchased T-Shirts and Keyrings (It is *AWESOME* by the way) off the site... I wish I had 'Ship Size Posters' and other stuff.

I am a *SUCKER* for Game-Universe type media. I'd buy Diagram Posters, or maybe even mini-ship models for all my favorite ships... I find "PaintJobs' and the like, kinda useless. I'd rather pay for the ability to paint my ship, or for logos/colors I CAN CHOOSE to put on my ship. That I would pay for.

Paint jobs are supposed to make your ship kinda 'stand out' and be memorable in the universe. But when only 10 paint jobs are on 3 or 4 of the ship types, that kinda makes you about as unique in the universe as an iPhone in the city!

I *HATE* in game items... They're usually a useless way to get more money from our pockets. But for the first time in any MMO-approach game (and I have played and beta tested SOOOoOOoOOooOO MANY), I'd buy them in E:D just to show my sincere appreciation of the game's dedication to us!

Literally the first company in the world, whos clients are worried they dont give enough money to it... Way to go, Frontier, the avant garde of marketing!
