Elite Dangerous support...... does it exist?

After the last patch my game developed a fault. Each time I leave the current space station it kills me. This is despite it being registered as an ally and having no bounty or outstanding fines. I am a trader so my ship doesnt even have weapons to offend as I ditched them to save weight.

I raised a ticket on the 15th and as of today I still have not received a response.

Effectively I cant play the game as I can no longer afford to re-buy my ship having it destroyed while full of Gold and obviously flying out of a space station to be insta killed, isn't much fun.

So I have a few of questions.

1. anyone else experiencing this?

2. Is such a shockingly poor response time to tickets normal?

3. Will FD ever do anything to rectify my position?

thanks in advance for your assistance

Why don't they release on steam? I keep getting the feeling only a tiny portion of the gamer population even knows about ED. Opening on steam would surely crack open the market. More sales, more money, more support.

if you only get destroyed after passing through the docking portal there may be a way to fix this so you can play.

launch from the pad and thrust up to get clear, once the radar replaces the pad graphic close the game down totally and return to the main menu. reload and you will find yourself 10km off the station and clear of its guns.

if its just the one station that is the issue simply avoid it in future until FDev tell you its fixed.

if you are going to try the above i advise selling your ship so you convert all your assets to cash and buy a sidewinder instead, that way if you are destroyed by the next station you dock at for the same reason you only lose a few thousand credits.

Follow up with them repeatedly. I had bug them to get results. Also, since you are having the same problem, try capturing a video or screencaps.

I may be wrong, but I believe if you leave your landing pad and log off before leaving the station you will be teleported to the outside afterwards, about 9 or 10 clicks away from the station. This should be probably enough to save you from station fire and let you try to dock somewhere else.

Also, as the fine fellas above pointed out, sell your trader for now and buy a sidewinder, just to be sure.

Regarding ED support response time, it is really a bit on the slow side for now. They are very nice guys who will do their very best to help you, but don't expect them to reach you in a few hours or days - won't happen.

I wish all the best and hope this nasty problem you mentioned is solved soon enough!

Thank you for the replies and the constructive advice to try and get of the "station of death".

Support response time of a week to resolve a problem that completely prevents a person from actually playing the game they paid for is completely unacceptable. This sort of response in beta may be acceptable but in a supposedly finished product its very poor.

This game will live or die on the content expansion that needs to come sooner rather than later. The content updates need to be thick and fast in my opinion to give this game the content and longevity that it deserves to have. Inevitably each change will throw up bugs and problems for players. This combined with a response time of possibly a week or more will kill this game for players such as myself. Less players means less cash from expansions and such a downward spiral has severe consequences for the future of ED.

So FD you really need to get your finger out to improve this immediately and you also need to show some sort of presence on this forum to explain what your doing to resolve this unacceptably poor response time.

I have a picture of ED Support to prove they do... indeed.. exist.

Steam...

Releasing games on Steam means giving a certain percentage of those sales to Valve - something Frontier might not be able (or willing) to do considering they have a pretty good launch to deal with right now. Valve doesn't provide them additional technical support resources, only the infrastructure to release the title to a larger audience. Perhaps Frontier *might* consider it if and when sales drop off a bit - as then they would need a way to generate more sales. Supporting a stand-alone release and a Steam release is harder - since you have to structure your title to handle Steam's content delivery system (I've heard - been looking into Steam for releasing my own games on...) as well as your own home-rolled solution(s).

Not only that. In E|D's current state, I wouldn't release it on steam after all. The amount of Thumbs-Down the game would kill all chances for the game to be put on Steam-Marketing.

Let's say it simply this way: The game is still in Beta. Openly released Beta without chance of a Wipe anymore. That's what it currently is.

Completely agree.

It's up to us to show the devs that we demand a proper support service keeping posts like this up.

I work as head of IT support team on my company and responses of a week are simply not an option. We tend to response at the same day or the next working day.
