Elite Dangerous Switch Panel - SharkFinn DX1

It certainly looks good, and I'm glad to see a new convert to the fun of Arduinos and electronics :)

Thumbs up!

Nice work all around.
I am curious though, simply because I haven't experimented much yet, but how does this register when assigning functions in the Controls settings?
I'm planning to add to my collection of controls, and have neither the patience nor the steady hand for wiring up my own, so I'm looking at :

one of these, which is a USB switch controller. But I haven't any idea how it would map in the configuration.

Another option might be this: http://www.desktopaviator.com/Products/Model_2040/index.htm

Clearly, some assembly required, but it allows up to 20 switches to be controlled.

That's the thing that originally gave me the idea for this. I'm not too sure how that interfaces. The SharkFinn uses a microcontroller that acts like a keyboard, so when I flip a switch or press a button it's the same as hitting a key or series of keys.
I think that device you pictured is a bit more complicated.
