Player event, for sure. Was announced a few days ago as being organized by AXI now that the war (against the Titans) (that we know of) is over. I guess they are just keeping their players busy with things and adding some roleplay twist to this.
I think this is insanity both in the gameplay and RP way, but sometimes insanity is just fun.
And my blurred comment is simply that I'd find it funny if Frontier picked up on or included this in the lore in some way when the Thargoids attack again, even if this is not something they initiated. Probably wouldn't be as a moderation of hostilities, though.
I probably won't get involved officially, but I have been getting the bug hunting itch again. I have the HIP 22460 permit (somehow?), so would this be a good place to regularly come for Thargoid hunting?
most titan remains if you have in itch be patient and hunters and interceptors cyclops basilisk and medusas will spawn..........

As far as I remember the game has already once bent under the AXI (CG on the cargo anti-corrosion compartment) I do not think that they will go about it and this time.
Thanks for the tip. Although I've been a CMDR for a while, I hadn't touched interceptor-class Thargoid combat until the final few weeks of the war. I'm really wanting to continue doing it, so am looking at the old guides on how to hunt in the Pleiades. I might head up to Asterope for a bit, which is now a much nicer trip with a 70Ly unengineered Mandalay following the CG FSDs.

Seriously though, while I wouldn't expect new thargoid content, I won't be surprised if FDev pull whatever levers they have available for HIP 22460.
Frontier chose to make a mention of it in-game within their liberty, as they sometimes do for purely player-created events/scenarios.
It’s possible this might have some narrative relevance in the future, or fits into the story Frontier want to tell making it worth a mention, or maybe not. It will have to be seen.
Sorry, but after changing CG conditions right during CG, I don't believe in good conditions.

And if it's not done on purpose, I'd start looking for a mole.
