Greetings Commanders,

A new update has been released server side for Elite Dangerous to resolve a number of issues. No downtime is required.

Update Notes
  • Resolved instances of failed transfers or mismatches occurring between fleet carrier and ship storage. (Issue ID: 50569)
  • Resolved instances of carrier ship packs not enabling the correct ships to be for sale in the shipyard.
  • Resolved cargo hold not appearing to fill after purchasing from a fleet carrier commodity market. (Issue ID: 46211)
  • Colonisation - Fixed orbital facilities failing to create a strong link with a ground ports. (Issue ID: 75310)
  • Colonisation - Fixed strong links not working in commodity markets orbiting a ringed planet. (Issue ID: 75576)
  • Colonisation - Strong link modifiers are now applied per link instead of per economy type (Issue ID: 75342)
    • Note: This is intended to result in higher proportion of economy sharing where multiple facilities are passing on the same economy type.
  • Colonisation - Resolved a specific type of High Tech economy not producing or consuming commodities. (Issue ID: 74785)
Please note that some of these changes may take up to 24 hours to take effect.

I'll have to check if the additional boost to the four refinery hubs in my first system has done anything more to help it overpower the industrial economy applied to the station by geo signals on the planet. Since I built it before the planetary influences rolled around...

Could you clarify this please:

If you have 3 refineries on a body which also has a port on (also now refinery due to influence), will the strength of those 3 refineries pass through the surface port and onto the orbital via the single strong link? Or will the orbital just count as having 1 strong link still?

Thanks

That sounds great. Now you only need to remove weak links, or reduce their effect and colonization is fixed. Right now, weak links mess with a stations economy too much and encourage not building any Odyssey settlements or orbital installations that create weak links.

I personally think that the forced planetary economies no matter the specialization of structures is a much bigger detriment to building and/or customizing systems (with an economy that doesn ot have a predefined port available) than weak links you should be able to overpower for the large majority of commodities, with the correct build. It's hard to build an industrial/extraction system if you want a colony port which takes up extraction, if there's only rocky bodies that can be built on, and refinery is forced on you no matter what you do or build.

In this instance the strength of those refineries will pass via the single link into the Orbital.
