Elite Dangerous | Update 18.07 - 5th July 2024

Frontier should never have rendered guardian tech useless. People lost interest in the game after all that hard work to get guardian weapons was dumped into the bin. Personally I think the FSD booster was a bad change. They should have just given the SCO drive a larger range. Taking an extra slot in a combat ship that has very few spare slots means I don't bother with FDS boosters. I simply deliver my combat ship to the combat zone or a system close to it. It is totally useless for combat ships. I log in, deliver my ship, then log out and go play another game while the ship gets delivered. And that means I sometimes don't return to ED for days. I'm in maintenance mode while I wait for frontier to sort their mess out.
Buy a Fleet Carrier, and jump with it.
Or don't fly pure combat ship with terrible jumprange and limited optional slots.

You want your favorite ship and activity without any downsides, and this isnt balance. The only ship that need a fix in jumprange is the Anaconda, that have ultralight hull to move the biggest modules in game release, and become overpowered as top explorer with the Engineering patch, when you could apply lightweight in the heavy sensors and life support. (Also Hauler need a fix, to be enabled to move his own cargo, but its adding more hull mass and a Size 3 FSD).

Vanilla Gauss and in some zones, Large Shards, are valid weapons, once applied the AGF engineering. The problem is that Azimuth version is already preengineered and don't accept it, and from Lore, Ram Tah (Aegis supporter) don't want to help Azimuth to apply this upgrade to his own weapons... maybe in the final titan, some espionage make this possible, near the end of the thargoid war storyline.

That was the game at that point. For example, I remember how we flew and searched every planet for several hours for bases, then slam and made that the bases appear on the scanner (missions Ram Tah) At that time it was interesting and took a lot of time.

Bingo!

The anti-antiguardianfield should have been an experimental, not a mod per se.
Or just be applicable as both but then nobody would really bother with the original shards and plasmas... except maybe people concerned about heat while they're shooting at a Titan pineapple.

As I and probably many others still had not bothered with them yet.

There are years between these two introductions.

Go back some years before the FSD booster and variations of that featuring a fuel scoop and a convenient station selling reinforcements were how combat ships were moved. After transfers were introduced I would either schedule it for while I was logged off or do something else ingame while it was happening as most bubble transfers were fairly short and I had ships scattered around.
Lots of things need fixing or improving but I haven’t been tempted to look at or for another game yet.

Huh?? I had lots of fun with their use this last weekend.

And it's somewhat profitable

From what I saw and how quickly the planetary sites got cleared I was not alone in their use either. Come and join in this weekend maybe? Even Glaives get dealt with pretty rapidly with so many cmdr's long range beams on them.

Also,
Taking an extra slot in a combat ship that has very few spare slots
A ship with spare slots is missing some optimisation for combat. For example, you can split your HRMs as the mass is the same while the the armour gets better, i.e. a Class 2 G5 Heavy/Deep is 2.8T and 359 armour. 2x Class 1 Heavy/Deep is 2x 1.4T and 2x 208 armour.

It's not clear, but hull enhancers from guards - anti-field is not needed.
