Newcomer / Intro Elite dangerous

So. I'm new here. Hence where I'm posting this. But i have a few Questions. before anything.
1. When will this game be playable on mac? I've heard it should come out sometime in march. but I'm just wondering if they have a select date yet.
2. Whats the best way to survive/make credits?
3. Should i invest my life into this game, and quit every other game i play (one is warcraft :3)
4. How are the controls on a keyboard? Its hard to tell form youtube videos...
Thats all the questions i can think of. If anyone can help with number one. You have my thanks!

1) It hasn't entered beta on Mac yet, but it is on it's way.
2) There are -plenty of guides available on this forum that will give you better info than I can.
3) Honestly? Probably not, but whether you find yourself doing that is up to you.
4) Suboptimal, but people cope, so not impossible.

Welcome, commander

1) Soon (TM) Specific date not yet announced.
2) When first starting, probably trading small amounts of goods and taking missions from the bulletin board. Remember to scan everything you can as you go - you can sell the data and it's essentially free money. When trading remember that the mass of your ship will reduce your jump range, so don't overload and/or take missions you can't fulfill.
3) Try playing for a while first :)
4) Like doing your own dentistry - possible, but painful and unappealing. Get a HOTAS - the Thrustmaster X is very reasonably priced and ideal for Elite. I'd also recommend getting VoiceAttack so you can bind some controls to voice commands, and if you get serious about the game invest in a head tracking device like TrackIR so you have constant head-look.

Good luck.

4. I am Keyboard only (no mouse!) and it is perfectly good for playing, there are a few compromises that I make, like having a configuration that doesnt require me to dance around on power settiings, but I do not feel it hinders me, just a different style of combat. Am I the ultimate ninja in PvP ? No, but it is great for PvE.
Getting VoiceAttack will help.

Cheap alternative (that i use) is xbox controller. Takes some configuration work to make it feel good, but now i really like it.

Hi & welcome!

1. No date announced yet, AFAIK.
2. No best way available (well, rares and than bulk trading are probably the fastest way, but that wasn't the question, was it? :) ), but different ways to choose from.
3. No for the first part. The second part is your choice. I did.
4. Decent, probably, but I bought the cheap T.Flight HOTAS X for the occasion, and it's worth every penny. (Well, cent in my case.)

And you have fun out there!

Isn't it playable on a Mac if you install Windows 7 on it?
The only windows disk i have is Windows xp. I have yet to instal it on my computer. but i don't think that will work (Its from 2002...) I also have no idea about windows OS. I had to use one for a Multimedia class last year. It was very confusing...
(If windows xp is the same as 7. then i might be able to instal it, yet i don't think it is...)
