Elite For Xbox: Will we ever have parity with the PC community or always be behind in updates?

OK, this question has been answered with regards to Horizons, but what about beyond that?

Let me first add that I am most grateful that Elite even exists for the Xbox and I do enjoy playing the game immensely. So first allow me to say thank you for your work and the contributions of the backers.

Here are a few questions I'd like to ask, however.

We have still to receive ship skins and keep being told "soon". Any update on this?

Horizons will come later as expected, but when it lands will the PC be even further ahead than the Xbox or are their plans to balance out the partity between both considering we're logged into the same universe? I appreciate that Xbox is at all receiving Horizons, but as it stands the lack of parity is a problem.

Example...

I'd tried to hunt a bounty target on the bounty list shown on the Xbox only to discover the last known location doesn't exist on the Xbox - it's a planet based settlement.

We read about the Barnacles but have no means to participate. I've declined exploring on the Xbox specifically because the farther out systems would have nowhere to land, which takes from the charm of seeing beautiful planets (non atmosphere based).

I know that Xbox players are enjoying Elite ahead of Mac players, so I do not wish for this to be perceived as a strict complaint. I know that Playstation 4 players (myself included) are missing the game entirely. That controller speaker would be awesome for ship comms, too.

Basically my question to FD is, will the console players ever start seeing a true parity between Elite on PC and the Xbox/PS4, or will we have to accept the lag, if even future content becomes at all available period? Any hope? Any word?

Thank you kindly.

This misses the point by a long distance. I did state that I also love the game, but I am asking something specific here.

The only people who know are the Devs. I believe they've mentioned enough times on this forum that they're working on it. As for keeping us up to date, when we get it, we'll be on the exact same stage as PC, be it 2.1, 2.2, etc. From there they aim to keep us both at the same stage if I'm remembering what they've previously stated right.

The previous answers you've gotten are from players like myself who are getting tired of seeing threads like this arise at least once a week. Your questions can be answered by yourself by using the search functions of this forum and visiting the countless other threads like this one in which the same questions have already been asked.

Hopefully you won't take that as me being rude, I'm just telling you it as it is.

Well sooner rather than later there should be parity in terms of game content (season 2/paintjobs/bobbleheads/private groups etc).

It's unlikely xb1 will ever get any kind of parity in terms of 3rd party stuff like voice attack, headtracking or vr and of course mods will never happen. Same goes for Hotas support, that's out of FD's hands.

Once the groundwork is done and 2.0 (horizons) launches on xb1 we should all be on the same playing field until season 3. It really depends what content is in future seasons, unless it's massive engine changing stuff like horizons was then the wait for xb1 Cmdrs shouldn't be so long next time, maybe just a month or so for ms's approval process.

and the thread is for frontier , are you currently working there???
its threads like this that remind frontier of the failure , and hopes that they will do better
we cant all be fanboys, some of us will judge them, because we can

Sounds like someone's cranky. Frankly you're being more rude to me at this moment 'lol'.

Anyway, I wasn't being rude, not intentionally at least. If you have a decent forum presence you'll realise we're all tired of these, even the mods. (Mainly because people tend to come into them and throw their attitudes and opinions around. (Seem familiar?)). I'm no fan boy, I really enjoy the game, yes, but I know it has its set of shortcomings and the like. Previously I've made my own complaints which have been seen to, so I've really run out of much to complain about. "Horizons didn't come out at the same time as PC, that's just awful and frontier has failed!" Is all I'm really getting from what you're saying right now and that's hardly the way to see things.

The game wasn't even planned for a console release from what I've been previously told. To be at the stage it is now so quickly is a pretty decent achievement in its own right. Horizons for PC was being worked on while Frontier was working on bringing this out for Xbox, so naturally it was going to be behind. Instead of leaving us behind Frontier have mentioned enough times that they're doing everything they can to catch us up as quickly as possible. Anyone who bothers to look before posting would find out that much easily.

I would also like to add that at no point anywhere did the OP state that this was direct for the attention of Frontier.

Given how long before the Xbox version the PC version was released, I will be pleasantly surprised if the Xbox ever catches up. It isn't something that bothers me.

Xbox will always be behind in updates for games being developed side-by-side on the PC because of the approval process through microsoft that the updates have to go through. The same thing is going on with Smite right now.

Of course you're being rude, have you read your own thread? The thing that puzzles me is not only do you take the time to read a thread that you are apparently 'tired of seeing' you go one stage further and write more than one reply.

All the info about the subject of the thread is in the title, if you are tired of that topic's repetitiveness don't open it. Move onto a thread that you're not tired of. Don't weigh into the OP and scold him like some kind school teacher.

Additionally if you can't resist writing comments like that for whatever reason don't then try and make yourself feel better by stating you don't mean to be rude when you clearly know you are. Have the courage to stand by your convictions at least.

+1 Rep

phantom is 100% right guys, in both replies.

They are working on it, been a post in another similar thread, they are working on it, lotsa changes not ready, can't find post.

You must be new to gaming if you don't know that Xbox will always be behind.

1. Porting takes time and money.

2. Microsoft requires certification before patching a game beyond a hotfix.

+1 for you.
Solid advice.

When FD wants to release a patch on XBox One...

Do Patch -> Seek Microsoft's Blessing -> Roll Out Patch

Outside of the XBox One universe...

Do Patch -> Roll Out Patch

So, yes, it's likely XBox will always be behind.

The only other option open to FD would be to roll out at the pace of the slowest, ie. delay every single platform in line with the MS-enforced XBox One schedule.

And for what reason? Would it make lots of XBox One customers "happy"? Would all the other customers be "happy"? Why would they possibly want to do that?

I just don't get this mentality that some people have, I'm sure they are doing their best, the game released at different times so it's understandable they are at different stages atm yes we don't have horizons however we still get any other updates around the same time (beta testing for patches not included), the ship update for example , and the next patch will also come around the same time depending on MS approval,

this you should answer me because I gave you my money that some people seem to have is nothing but a selfish self entitled attitude, which to be fair if these people stop playing it's no loss to the community,

now please feel free to tell me how your entitled to be brats because you paid for the game, I paid for it too and we all want answers and information, frontier seem to give us little information until they are ready because they don't want to make false promises which is fine by me, how many time to you hear it will be out on x date and then there's months of delays because they where too optimistic? Surely that's more frustrating
