Curious to see what people have stumbled across browsing the in-game map. Few places I've discovered nearby that are high on my list:
[621 LY] HIP 18442 - 2 black holes!
[167 LY] Kappa Andromedae - This system contains a Super Jupiter (12.8 times the mass of our own) The size of this planet teeters on the line separating the most massive planetary bodies from the smallest brown dwarf stars.
[339 LY] Canopus (Also known as Alpha Carinae) Second to Sirius for being the brightest in the night sky. This is the star that appears on the flag of Brazil, and also the location of the wormhole that led players to their playable galaxy in EVE online, as well as the home to the fictional desert planet Arrakis featured in the Dune series of novels by Frank Herbert (third planet orbiting the star).
[1,402 LY] HIP 8851 Neutron Star
