Elite in trading == 1.015 bil Cr

There. XD

Edit: No Founder's world permit though. The 10% ship discount is one of my motivations to get to Elite.

Updated: Got to allied with the Pilot's Federation. Unfortunately after over a dozen stops in LTT 926, I haven't seen the "Making friends and going places" entry on the BB. Not sure how I'm going to get into the system. Slightly disappointing.

Update: Still haven't been offered the permit. I have the feeling the mission to get the permit is not in the game. I tried Avik for Sirius and HIP 18609 for Peregrina and they offered the permit, it's just that they don't trust me enough to give it to me. Pilot's Federation doesn't even show the permit's availability at all.

Edit: I clarified later in the thread, but I'm not eligible for the Elite prize because I've dropped into solo play before. If you're going for it, good luck!
:D Although it's likely, it is not certain whether I'm actually the first to reach the rank. Antichthon reached the 1.015 billion threshold about half an hour after I did. As far as the collective knowledge of this forum goes, the two of us are the only ones with > 1 billion trading profits at time of post.

Edit: Also, some fellow traders asked about how profitable the routes I was running are, it's somewhere further down the thread. These are high estimates for stable routes that can sustain high-volume legal commodities trading (~50-200k units a day). They are close to but not at the theoretical max price spread, so it's likely that you can do better if you look hard enough. If you're in a smaller ship, you can achieve better results than these with outposts. However, balance between looking and trading, as you aren't making money when scouting new routes. Please don't PM me for route details. It's unfair for other people running the routes. The only thing more important to traders than credits is information. Trader's honour. Thanks for your understanding.

Edit: Getting PM's about where my pilot name comes from. It's from a great little strategy/social space opera game called Galaxy Angel back in 2002. It's Japanese, but Fuwanovel has an excellent fan translation. The anime (which is not very good IMO) has nothing to do with the game. This is the opening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zk08utrDwg

If you got it all in Open Play, you might have won the $1200. Check to make sure you're not the first!

Ah, I wish. I play 99.9% on open, but my first 2-3 days are in solo, and I've dropped once or twice into solo afterwards. The feeling's more than enough though :D

Wow! Really? I didn't know anyone else was so close! I'm only 3 million away from that!

Keep going, my friend! You can do it!

Did you just reach it? I certainly don't mind if I'm the second person to ever reach Elite in trading!

Congrats.

Are you eligible for the race to elite contest? You might be able to bag yourself 1k pounds for hitting 1 elite.

It's not about the money, it's about how you got it. Needless to say bugs don't count towards your elite rating.

I know that, but still a nice cargoed out Anaconda will pull in the cash.

Also it should not matter which mode you played it, if you get there by not cheating is all the evidence which is needed, for example not taking any advantage of the exploit.

Apply for the winning elite trophy

Any tips for us traders out there? I'm trading in a 17.8 laden ly Clipper at 240 cargo space.
Mostly running resonators to refinery, then gold back to a high tech at about ~1400p/ton.
