Elite in trading == 1.015 bil Cr

If you have any interest in sacrificing a few credits for the sake of the community, I still need somebody to buy an Orca and tell me about its default loadout, bulkheads, and class 6 Life Supports, so I can add it to www.edshipyard.com -- it's the only ship that still isn't supported because of missing data.

Also, grats on your accomplishment!

Thanks! :D But I thought someone said on the forums a while ago that he already owned one of each ship. Maybe you can ask him?

I understand that you want completeness for the tool, but there's no reason to buy the Orca now unless you just like to fly it or own it, so IMHO even if you had the data for it, it may not be that useful, at least right now. If I bought it now I might end up incurring opportunity cost for another ship I need somewhere further down the line. Selling it again is just throwing away an hour or two's work.

There. XD

Edit: No Founder's world permit though. The 10% ship discount is one of my motivations to get to Elite.

Updated: Got to allied with the Pilot's Federation. Unfortunately after over a dozen stops in LTT 926, I haven't seen the "Making friends and going places" entry on the BB. Not sure how I'm going to get into the system. Slightly disappointing.

Update: Still haven't been offered the permit. I have the feeling the mission to get the permit is not in the game. I tried Avik for Sirius and HIP 18609 for Peregrina and they offered the permit, it's just that they don't trust me enough to give it to me. Pilot's Federation doesn't even show the permit's availability at all.

Edit: I clarified later in the thread, but I'm not eligible for the Elite prize because I've dropped into solo play before. If you're going for it, good luck!
:D Although it's likely, it is not certain whether I'm actually the first to reach the rank. Antichthon reached the 1.015 billion threshold about half an hour after I did. As far as the collective knowledge of this forum goes, the two of us are the only ones with > 1 billion trading profits at time of post.

Edit: Also, some fellow traders asked about how profitable the routes I was running are, it's somewhere further down the thread. These are high estimates for stable routes that can sustain high-volume legal commodities trading (~50-200k units a day). They are close to but not at the theoretical max price spread, so it's likely that you can do better if you look hard enough. If you're in a smaller ship, you can achieve better results than these with outposts. However, balance between looking and trading, as you aren't making money when scouting new routes. Please don't PM me for route details. It's unfair for other people running the routes. The only thing more important to traders than credits is information. Trader's honour. Thanks for your understanding.

Edit: Getting PM's about where my pilot name comes from. It's from a great little strategy/social space opera game called Galaxy Angel back in 2002. It's Japanese, but Fuwanovel has an excellent fan translation. The anime (which is not very good IMO) has nothing to do with the game. This is the opening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zk08utrDwg

I too have recently achieved Elite in trading and did not receive the founders world permit. Did you submit a ticket? If so, have they responded yet? If so, what was the response time?

Could it be that currently only elite in combat awards the permit?
Because in the starport services screen, the icon beside your CMDR name is your combat rank and not your highest rank.

Did the permit appear after today's update?

I got my bugged/backlogged Achenar permit. It might not be the same issue with the Founder's World permit, though.

You never got interdicted by another player? But.. just read these forums, everybody is getting griefed and pirated every 5 minutes... how can you possibly play in open and get to elite and not be interdicted by players? ;-)

If your trade route is out in the sticks (read: far from core systems), you pretty much only meet other traders and nice players. Griefers and pirates need a certain player density to satisfy their needs. When I moved to Kappa for some conflict zone action, yeah then I get PvP-ed.

Nope, just came back from Kappa Fornacis after the conflict zones disappeared. Stopped by to check the permit and it's still not being offered. I was gunning for Elite in combat by farming the combat zones to see if the trigger was Elite in combat rather than Elite in trading, since that's the only rank that's displayed. Only managed to reach deadly, ~4400 kills short of Elite right now.

Blew up my Python twice coz of collisions with Anacondas, so gotta work back the 30m or so. Nothing a couple of hours trading can't fix XD

Haven't submitted a ticket. Given how often Michael and the devs respond to stuff on the forums, I'm sure they're well aware of this issue already - don't want to swamp support with another ticket. My hypothesis is, either you need Elite in combat, which I'm working towards, or you need triple elite (which I doubt), or the permit's not in the game because there aren't that many players with Elite in anything. Or maybe there's a hidden requirement that none of us have found out yet.
