Community Event / Creation Elite: Lave Revolution MOVIE

Good afternoon Elite fans!

I'm Marcus Baxter, and I'm the Director of the upcoming film, from the Elite universe, Lave Revolution. Many of you will have heard something about this film already, which I will be working on in collaboration with Allen Stroud from Lave Radio, LaveCon and author of Elite: Lave Revolution, the novel.

Thanks to all of our pledges from Kickstarter, who without their support this film would not be happening, we have a budget of £3000 for the movie.

While we may not yet be able to afford a multi-million pound CGI feature-length, £3000 is an excellent budget for a short film, so this is what we're going to make!

It is very important to both Allen and I, that the faithful fans of the Elite universe love this film, and embrace it as part of Lave's history, canon and lore.

Because of this, we want fans of Elite to be involved! If you have skills that you think could be valuble then let us know!

If you have experience with;
3D digital models and CGI
Conventional model making,
Set design and Costume, if you are a fan of Elite and have film making experience, or if you are simply passionate about an idea that you would like to see from a film set in the Elite universe, then please speak up, and post!

Get in touch, let us know your skills, and your ideas!

It will be great to hear from you.

Marcus Baxter.

Welcome to the forums Marcus!

We'll be talking about this more in the next recording of a LaveRadio episode (after the next one).

Hey Selezen,

Thanks for letting me know of your expertise. Do you have a rough idea of when you might become more available?

UPDATES

Right,

Just to keep everyone up to date on the progress for this movie.

Great news, the screenplay has gone through final iterations and all the key creative members of the production team are now happy to go ahead with this version as a shooting script!

Casting is moving forward steadily- and almost all of the key speaking parts have now been cast- and the extremely talented European TV star Eugenia Panagopoulou, will be bringing a moving performance to the role of LaveSec security officer Bowles.
The male lead, of Lave's Phoenix Rebellion, murderer, Orphan, JANDER, has been cast to Robert Driscoll, a very sincere, dedicated and authentic actor, who will bring a level of integrity and vulnerability to the role.

Our production design team are also well under way in the acquisition of props, costume, and set pieces,
We also have fantastic new additions to our team. We have four very talented composers all vying to write the music for the film- so that is going to be incredible, not to mention our Production manager, Director of Photography, Script supervisor and 1st Assistant Director, all whom will be supporting me in the production of this film!

We are currently in the process of storyboarding, and working out key individuals schedules so we can pin down shooting dates- but we aim to begin filming within the next 10 days!

As always, if you have the skills, if you are an artist, or an animator, or talented with visual effects or 3D CGI- then we'd love to hear from you!

Talk to you soon

Baxter

Cobra Model

Once I have it completely finished, which will be pretty soon. I might be able to make my 1/44 scale Cobra Mk III model available for use in shooting. I also plan to build some other ship models (Definitely an Eagle, possibly others) which also could be available for your use depending on time schedule and logistics.

Please let me know if you are interested.

Tony Spaniels is a pro CGI dude IIRC, working on "real" films... maybe shoot him a PM to see if he has any time, or suggestions.

Hey Selezen,

I would be OK to discuss what's needed and what would be expected now, but I'm looking at probably September/October before being available for anything other than RPG-related stuff.

:)

I'm an experienced subdivision modeller, primarily using Wings3D. If you're looking for something a bit more "industry standard" then it might be prudent to chase up jabokia's contact.

Wow, and you're making this in Britain...? ;)

Great to hear it's going well, it'll be brilliant to see the first ever official Elite-based film!

The cast and director appeared at LaveCon in full outfit, and I have to say they looked spectacular. Really great costumes that fit nicely with the Elite universe, and the shots they showed of their full scale Cobra cockpit looked amazing.

Really looking forward to this movie :)

I enjoyed meeting some of the cast and crew at Lavecon. It was great to talk to them, handle the guns, see some of the artwork Frontier sent them and the photos from behind the scenes. It was good of them to turn up when they had just spent the previous week shooting with long days - not sure I'd have had the energy or inclination to turn up.

It was also great to see their reactions to being able to spend a bit of time using a Rift and seeing a bit of the game.

Hey guys, just saw your thread and it seems a very interresting project.

If you still looking for some CGI guys, I am available.

Here my professional portefolio if you want to see some of my work

In any case, I really want to know more and see the first pictures .

Keep going !

Hello everyone!

Thank you for all of your encouraging comments and replies!

It was great to get to meet some of the fans at LaveCon. The cast and crew had a great day, and it was really good for everyone who has worked so hard on the film so far to see how much the Elite world means to the fans, and to meet a handful of the people who we're making this film for, and who will (if we do our jobs right) love this film!

And thank you so much for getting in touch regarding the CGI work for the film. We are currently in the story-line editing stage of post-production; and it's looking really, really good!

I will get in touch soon via private messages regarding the CGI- everything I've looked at so far looks amazing- I think we're on to a winner!

Hi guys,

I'm a professional Editor and Colour Grader and have some experience with digital compositing too (and just saw the release of the first feature I worked on as a DoP).

I would be interested in getting involved. Where are you guys based/shooting?

I've got the models I made in Blender for the Elite Ship Database (link in sig).

They could be ok for distance shots with texture work, and a starting point for more detailed work maybe.
