Elite life skills

If I put under interests Playing Elite Dangerous does that increase or decrease my chances of employment? Ive gone back to coding personal projects maybe fin something with a start up. Doing some private tutoring.

Having sat the other side of the chair, "other interests" are great for breaking ice in the sometimes awkward pre-interview chit chat.

Best case - the interviewer is a player too and it leaves a positive impression.

Worst case - they think gaming is a waste of time and so it's automatically somewhere and someone you don't want to work with.

Advanced skills would be saying you use ED as a sandbox game to help organise events/new pilots etc etc, showing your transferable skills in a positive light.

Elite as a transferable skill would be instead of a "half full" kind of person I'm a "half finished" sort 😂

Skills? No.
Some character traits they may value, yes...

Patience.
Strong Will
Ability to pursue long term goals
Ability to withstand repetitious activities for minor benefits
Ability to take loses that could amount for months of hard work with a joke
Multitasking?

How many of my guys working from home are playing games while on the clock? I'll never know.

That's not enough. What is play style (miner/trader/explorer/combat/ganker)? How many hours? Achievements in the game?

It depends. I may hate explorers for example because I do not understand what they do and why.

In essence that characterises a masochist.

As a 50+ yr old gamer, when looking at resumes, and the interests section, I consider gaming as relevant as watching TV, as in it's lazy, and a cop out.

To me, that section is to show off other things you may be doing to I don't know, top of my head; get in shape, to give back to the community, to better yourself, gardening, temporarily fostering pets, etc.

One time in my life I read lots of resumes, but thank goodness those days are over. ED might be OK if you said you explored the Milky Way galaxy using Elite Dangerous, but you could say the same for Spaceengine (and in that case throw in there ... other known galaxies); but that's a real stretch, so I'd say leave it off.
However, if you were coding mods for games as a hobby, that might peak somebody's interest who's doing the hiring. GL HF

What about being a kickstarter founder and beta tester?
I was once asked about my golfhandicap at an interview.

Just talk about cake. Can't do anything wrong with cake. Cheesecake is best, of course. Steak is also interesting, but controversial with veganitarians. Just bring your signature cheesecake to show off.
