Fiction Elite: Lore

Hello Commanders!
Could you help me out?
I'm trying to find some "official" lore from the Elite universe. I've found all sorts of sites but all of them are either completely made up by the community, or there is not enough information, or the information is off in one way or another.

What I'm asking is, where do you go to read up on Elite: Dangerous lore and mechanics.

I want to know the history of the major factions. The history of mankind from present to 3301. The history behind the Thargoid war. The mechanics of all, and how everything works, explained in a believable way. And more...

BTW: Would it not be nice to see more lore "pushed" from FDev for better immersion? Like the ship adverts of a certain similar space sim game does them? It seems there is much to be done in the ways of story and immersion. I think it would be great to have a "lexikon" in game like the one Mass Effect had, with all details.

Sorry I missed this.

Yes its a tricky bag and easy to get lost. The Elite Dangerous Wiki is pretty good though for a flavour - http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Elite_Dangerous_Wiki

Because of the revisions and the long absence between games, there is a fair amount of misinformation. Fiction stories from the previous games are mostly 'okay'.

Well I drafted the guide documents on the major factions for Frontier and the official writers with the excellent assistance of Dave Hughes and T James who worked on some as well. Dave Hughes is still working on the official Elite Encounters RPG, which is likely to be the biggest source of this information outside of the game. His original Daftworks Elite timeline was one of the first sources for the new history draft.

I have suggested to Frontier that the history narrative could be released, but it definitely needs a tidy and edit as it was written for guidance not publication, but that would require someone to verify all the events again. I have offered to do this, but Frontier replied they will likely do it themselves, which is their choice.

I can say the Frontier: Elite 2 timeline was not contradicted in the draft I did of the new timeline (just expanded), so if you look here - http://lotf.co.uk/download.html You'll find the manual which is a start.

You can also read my recent blog post on this - http://www.allenstroud.co.uk/2016/01/2015-happy-new-year-and-following.html I'll stress, I'm the same as you in that I wanted to know in the same way, but there's a clever to project depth into the universe and fire all of our imaginations.

At the moment, we're a bit stuck in the middle with nothing. We kind of need that Dark Crystal style coffee book mentioned at the end.
