Elite Meet: Mysterious Structures

Not to my knowledge. Personally I found this just as exciting as the geysers and I'm really looking forward to exploring these. I just hope they tie them in with a broader story and leave clues in the ruins for people to discover and try to decipher. Maybe this could be the start of a new "Archaeologist" path :D

2.2 beta is going on. The stuff to discuss there is much more interesting and have more impact or effect to game. The mystery that players can solve that will lead up player finding what they showed on video will only effect small number of players if they care about mysteries and solving it. But it has nothing to do with the gameplay or what most player enjoy to do or do when they play.

I would say only small amount of players know about the hole Alien story line frontier try to put into the game. Even smaller part of the community can take part of these alien hunt mysteries because they are solved in hours and most hear about the hunt days later when they happen to look at forums or reddit. The hole alien hunt stuff is only aimed for small part of the community because the way its done in game. Most can't take part because the clue is revealed while they are sleeping, in work etc. so they just ignore and don't care.

Aliens and mysteries only rise to be top topics when there is nothing more interesting and important to discuss.

Ohh .... Indiana Jones in space ! ...wait a min....isn't that guy who plays Indiana Jones also the guy who plays Han solo!!!.....wow mind = blown 😀!! ....On a serious note I do like the idea of being an archaeologists in space !

Has no one come across any of these in Beta yet?

Frontier has never put story stuff into beta. Which will mean that when the story stuff is added to game in one of the 2.2.0x patches it won't spawn at all or it doesn't spawn for all players. This have happened with all story related stuff they have added to game.

They can't test it because it would ruin the story, but because they don't test it it will always be bugged in someway.

Somebody should try to find the planet by using the size of the nebula and visible stars, very disappointing Canonn... :)

Is there a moratorium on discussing this because I am surprised it is not an active source of debate..?

I think most forum participants don't know that this video exists.

The first time I saw it I had to think of Serious Sam. Hopefully we won't get attacked by Werebulls in our SRVs ;)

Somehow ancient, mysterious ruins always look like tourist attractions in Egypt. Lack of imagination? Well established trope? Easy solution?

I understand that it's problematic as a 800 years old structure made by men would be an archeological site in the year 3302, but it would look futuristic for the player. I hope that there is some story line for single players to follow and finding more clues - in addition to the galaxy wide story that probably gets solved within hours (like that crashed alien ship story).

Nothing big, just bits of information that can be found about those sites that over time form a story what happened, who made those structures.

I had to think about the ancient under water alien buildings in X-COM:Terror from the Deep :)

I started to do that, and then I got interrupted by the 2.4 beta update. More than happy that this happened, of course.

What I was trying to do is to get the same angle of Barnards Loop as in the video, but I didn't have much time to try.

If these structures are from The Missing or the Generation Ships (I suspect that's what they might be) then at least we know they shouldn't be more than about 10.000ly from Sol. Presumably way, way less.

Geysers look fun. We were shown a video at the elite meet of a cmdr driving his SRV into one and being blasted into the air so can't wait to try it in game.

I think these are procedurally generatet and can be found anywhere in the Galaxy.
Only under the right conditions and very rare, of course.

Generation ships traveled under the speed of light and if they have had time to build stuff and abandon it then they can't be that far away.

I think they are the original Thargoid bases from the war (that might have been retconned out.. but hey)

Humm i hear a beautifull song, the stars are singing an hymn to exploration and finally i dream of strange new worlds again !
Here i come dusty explo Conda !

I did the maths, it was about 800 to 900 light years, that a lot of space to be search.

That's assuming they didn't independently discover frameshift - or something else - en-route. It's not like they'd have much else to pass the time, apart from tinkering...
