"Elite" moments...

This game gets to you. After a while it just sort of seeps in. This can have strange outcomes.

Two nights ago I sat in a small dark cockpit , my hands on the control joysticks, gazing at the night sky above.
I was driving a ship crane waiting for a load to be slung far below.
When I looked back down I saw a supervisor I don't have much time for had wandered out on the wharf.

I sat watching the scene not thinking too much about it until I noticed my thumb;
it was absentmindedly looking for the button that deploys hardpoints.

ever had an Elite moment?

Well the other day i saw a screen with red numbers all over it like binary code, at work, i think it was just an example screen to demonstrate you should put your text 'here' in some info graphic. But i strait away started trying to find patterns and decode it to see if there was a hidden message about thargoids or some secret lol.

I was sat watching it for ages and my friend asked what i was doing. I explained about the screen of red numbers and that it had a repeating pattern of 27 numbers goruped into pairs and that the sequance starts and finishes with 27 its not binary code but 27+27 is 54 and thats the second number in the sequence! The gave me a strange look and asked if i was getting enough sleep lol

Did any of them point to Merope? lol

Well the game doesn't make me wish I could shoot people IRL but occasionally I'll look up at the moon & think 'I have a ship in orbit up there'.

I swear I would have only hit him with a limpet drone...

I have met people I'd like to KWS just to see how they'd react to hearing 'scan detected' ;)

A while back I asked my boss if I could leave early on the basis that there would be no problems without me there because the whole place would despawn when I left ;)

I do occasionally tap my thumb on the steering wheel of the car in the vain hope of putting more pips to the engine.

and i have wanted to jettison 'cargo' (re. daughter and screamy mates) quite often.

God could you imagine how many cargo capsules would be littered up and down the motorways if we could do this.

Not while I'm conscious, I have very vivid and lucid dreams of elite. I get mad when I try to deploy hard points and it does nothing, sometimes when I my parents wake me up they ask why I'm twiddling my thumbs while I'm asleep I just say I didn't know that I do.

I may need help

Maybe your supervisor plays Elite too. Maybe his favorite ship is a FDL. Did you ever ask him? :)

Talk to your parents.
Go outside, go for a walk, get a bit of exercise.

If this is a cry for help it's a very, very quiet one.

This kind of happens for different things.

I use Illustrator and Photoshop a lot, and sometimes when drawing (not on the computer but with my hand and pencil) on paper I look to press ctrl Z to undo a mistake lol.

I equate almost everything in life to something in Elite on some level. I was born to flyu spaceships, elite flips all my switches, presses all my buttons and pervades my thoughts.

ever had an Elite moment?

I was on a campsite last week and the area in front of the toilet block was mostly round rocks embedded in dust, it had been raining, the surface was still wet and there was a dim light nearby by giving a slightly redish hue to the scene. If I looked away from the toilet block it felt like a planet I was on a couple of days earlier.

Cheers,
Mark
