Elite not very dangerous ?

I don't mean to complain … but … is it me, or is Elite Dangerous now, not very dangerous at all?

If someone from FD reads this, can you please turn the threat up level a bit?

Apart from very fixed, defined, scenarios (i.e. you have to go looking for trouble...) the game is kind of boring. It would be nice if the danger came to me sometimes :)

Currently one of my favourite mission techniques is to stack a lot of pirate assassination missions, as this forces a lot of random(ish) pirate encounters. But this only works if I plan on going to the systems where those missions are based.

More random encounters please! I'd welcome a few "NPC griefers" from time to time … just anything to break up the boredom of going from A>B :)

IMHO it would go a long way to making the game world feel a bit more alive.

EDIT: This discussion seems to have gone OT a little. I did try to clarify my original point here, but it doesn't look like some folks have gotten much past this first post :p

In essence: my point was more around having to find the danger, rather than it coming to find me.

The only analogy I can think of is this: if I gave someone a knife, and then told them to meet me on a certain street corner at a certain time, to test my skills at defending myself - no matter how I try to put it out of my head, I will come mentally prepared for that fight.

What I would love with Elite Dangerous (if they could work it out, so not to off all the casual players who just want to truck back and forth) is if there were more random attacks. Especially if I have been doing actions that have hurt my standing with one or more factions, or had to cross through an area of space that was overrun by pirates.

For me, that would add a bit more thrill back into the game ...

EDIT2:

By way of a follow up, I've discovered a way to make the game work in the way I want it to :p

I'm now flying an engineered Krait Phantom. It has the agility, cargo space and jump range to make it a good cargo mission transport.

Even with fully engineered weapons it's a challenge against higher ranked / larger NPC ships. I'm also running 3A shields (to max the cargo space) and lightweight hulls to improve jump range and agility. (So I'm crippled myself a bit, but for good reason rather than 'because')

I then stack a load of boom delivery missions and await the sweet sweet interdictions :) If I have several missions in one system, often other ships will jump into the instance whilst I'm fighting the ship that interdicted me first :)

By doing this I've also noticed something that's kind of awesome: If I have to run from a fight, when the NPC interdicts again, it now has the same rank, and shield/hull damage. i.e. it's the same ship I was fighting before. Was this added in a recent update?

Kudos to FD for that: it used to be that NPC ship stats reset, and sometimes changed rank too with each interdiction :p

Having fun again :)

Its as dangerous as you want it to be.

If you insist on flying a fully engineered top end ship, then it probably won't be that hard.

NPC griefers as you put it already exist. Take trade missions with the description that you might be attacked and you will get them.

If you want more difficult targets, go take on Thargoids. Although as i understand it they are not that hard once you undertand how to take them down.

Yeah I get all that. No problem finding targets. In my opinion, it would make the game more exciting if it were a bit more random and serendipitous.

Lets think now, demands to make Neutron Star and White Dwarf Jets less dangerous, throttle down on exit to star system, etc, I would also like more danger, but I know whatever danger they put in will see immediate demands for nerfing the danger because reasons.

It's dispiriting in the extreme.

Have you tried playing with Thargoids?

Elite is about as challenging as school sport's gametime. Even Minecraft still offers more challenge as you can't really combat log in singleplayer and you lose your whole inventory upon player death. Or if you go for hardcore, you whole save.

Meanwhile Elite, a tiny credit percentage of the ship's credit value which ignores engineering.
Then we also have dumb AI that are outclassed since 2.1 by players, thargoids that are too dumb to fight reverski, synthesis for the extra portion of spam tactics and no consequences for anything players do in the game.

Go to one of the CG locations in open. You're welcome.

Unfortunately, as I’m in Australia, the game is relatively quiet player-wise when I’m online, as it’s usually the middle of the night in UK/US.

But the point I’m trying to make is that the game requires me to go somewhere to seek out danger and mayhem. It would be nice (?) if danger and mayhem sought me out sometimes too.

I wish security level meant a bit more.
Also wish that negative faction standing meant something more. Bounty hunting criminal organisations should mean they eventually attack you on sight.

yes indeed! And yes, security level, anarchy systems and so on should have a heightened sense of danger imho

Try landing at a station owned by the Pirates you've been hunting, no seriously don't, you have zero protection and are dead in seconds
