Elite on Mac OSX

I have been looking for a discussion thread covering Elite on Mac OSX but have not found.

Would it be possible to have a member of Elite Development update this thread with the current status of the OS X build and use this thread as a way for OS X users to post their questions on the various methods available to support Elite on their Macs.

I have a late 2013 Mac Book Pro and also a late 2013 Mac Book Air. Both machines run Windows 7 through either VMWare Fusion and Parallels with the ability if need be to deploy Windows 7 Ultimate in a bootcamp partition.

Will there be a beta release of the OS X version of Elite? When will it be available?
Given VMWare Fusion provides support for Windows 7 Direct X hardware acceleration - is it possible for one of the development team to look into what it would take to support running the Windows 7 version of Elite Dangerous in a VM configured to support Direct X hardware acceleration in the VM?
I'd rather avoid using bootcamp if at all possible - is there anything unusual Mac users of bootcamp need to do to configure their machines to run Elite Dangerous in Win 7 64 optimally?

Thanks!

The main (I think) Mac thread is https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=9090

ED isn't really designed to be played on a VM, but I have had limited success playing under Parallels (though
I have a Mac Pro underneath). Though I'm pretty sure Frontier won't even think of supporting ED in a VM. At the moment when it comes to all things Mac, they will only really refer to Bootcamp (which is how David Braben himself plays). I'm not aware of any special tweaks needed to get ED to run under Bootcamp.

The beta of the Mac version is due sometime after the main (Windows) release, with the full Mac version allegedly following on a few months later. The Mac beta will be open to those who were in the main (Windows) beta.
