Thank you for the approval, guys! It is rather intimidating to pick and choose which aspects of the game should be talked about when there are so many possibities.

And, yes, the word "screenshots" gets rather a loose interpretation previous to release.

The bit about the follow-on from Frontier gave me a thought... I need to get to grips with Frontier as I'm sure some of the gameplay/mythology/history will inform E : D....

Can anyone give a quick guide on Frontier's developments beyond the original Elite game? (By Frontier, I mean the game and not Frontier Developments....)

Yes, in fact the Frontier games' history will be more important to Elite4 than the history of the original Elite. You can read more about it in Selezen's semi-fictional timeline here (includes timelines from all the games and makes an attempt to build a coherent history out of them):
