Elite Repair Detail (high repair costs?)

Hey everybody.
Firstly let me say Elite Dangerous is one of my favorite games of all time. I think its a work of art amd everyday i cant wait to play it. Im talkin for months. Im sure many of u feel the same way.
So my one big gripe is the cost of repair is rediculus, finally saved up enough for an asp and i get taken to 93% health for pullin someone out of hyperdrive which cost 20k to repair and they only have a bounty of 2k which u cant figure out most of the time untill u actually pull them out. This is killing any bounty hunting for me rite now. I kno i cant be the only one. Anyone have a solution for this?
I Really think this needs some tweaking.

Agreed - I'm flying an ASP but can only afford to do so as a trader. Even if I get interdicted and shot at once before I kill the pirate, it costs like $15k in repairs. I have 2nd biggest shield, 2nd biggest power generator, biggest power distributor. If I switch back to a Type6 repair costs are rock bottom and what I'd expect them to be. Honestly, I'm thinking I'd need to sell up and just pimp out a Viper or Eagle to go bounty hunting... Ridiculous! ED dev's PLEASE look at balancing out repair costs for your ships - thanks!

The easy thing to do is to stop hunting in anarchy systems and then you will see the bounty (for the local system at least) before you interdict them, of you could hunt ring systems, lots of kills to be made there (easy 5-800k/hour just don't pick up any loot or you will get ganked by the NPCs). I don't think the cost of repairs is too high it is about 3k/1% damage which makes it 300k for 100% on a ship that costs over 3 million for the hull that does not seem high, it is more a case of looking after your ship than cost being too high.

Regardless of possible upcoming changes for repair costs: There are currently two ships suited for bounty hunting. The Viper and the Cobra. An ASP is not. Neither is a Python. You wouldn't take a Bugatti to rally racing.

So the solution you are looking for is simple: use the Viper.

Thanks for the feed back guys. SOooo if continue with my ASP, it seems I should strip off the guns/shields upgrades I've done and keep pouring money into the power plant etc. This way I can stick my tail between my legs and afterburn away every time I get interdicted - in the hope I'll out run the pirate(s) and avoid the repair costs?

I still think it's not unreasonable that after beefing up a bigger ship (eg ASP, Clipper, Python etc), I can expect that a NPC in a puny Sidewinder and default pulse laser shouldn't cause me $15k of damage with a couple of shots!! I see it as the equivilent of a miltary ship at sea having to go back to dry dock after some guy in a rubber dingy fires a couple of shots at the hull with a BB-gun!...
:)

This is exactly what I did. Viper for bounty hunting, my Asp for everything else. I'd love to use the Asp for everything but sometime's it's just not economical... And flying the Viper is a hoot!

I flew my Python from V1688 Aquilae to LHS 3447, that was 26 thousand credits, then when I got there I went to Worlridge station at 110,000 LS away from the jumping in star there, that was another 35 to 45 thousand credits in hull running repairs each time just because the station is so far away from the jump in point. So before I even got home...another 26 thousand credits, I had spent 86 to 96 thousand credits just in fuel and ship maintenance.
So get used to the Asp's running costs, because the hull on the Python is the same price but the maintenance costs are ok for short trading runs to stations and orbitals but the long distance cost of far away stations like Worlridge that has Palladium at about 1200 a bar is sometimes not cost effective in the python chaps.
Although after running that T6 for so long that had cardboard for shields, I know I felt a whole lot safer in my Asp running 96 tons than I ever did running 100 tons in my old rickety T6.

Flew about 650k ls in my Asp yesterday. Wear and tear damage cost me 30k to repair. I don't remember the exact damage percentage but it was more than 20%, I think.

30k repairs for 20% W&T damage is okay. Pretty cheap actually, cost of the ship considered.

20% W&T for just 20 minutes of supercruise in a mostly straight line seems a bit excessive, though. A few such rather relaxing flights and the ship would be at 100% wear and tear damage. One would think ships are a bit more durable ...

It seems that jumping is relatively low in maintenance costs, but long runs in super cruise really hurt the metal/alloy skins of the 300 year old Python I have brought for 57 million....funny that.....''as he leaves the forum to go and make more money running Gold because the ship demands it....sulking off back to the game now he mutters to himself''.

agree, and its riddiculous that repair cost for 10% hull damage on asp with 280ton hull costs 20k while the same % damage on 420 ton heavy and much more expensive type 7 will cost around 1k.
