Elite Spacecraft Design Contest Winner Announced

Elite fans were recently invited to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Elite by participating in a “Spacecraft Design” contest on Facebook. And participate they did!

Today we’re proud to announce a winner for the contest, which has been running from 21st September till 15th October, 2009 on the Elite Facebook Page. After receiving a large number of great entries it’s been a real challenge to select a winner, but we’ve finally found one!

We’re pleased to announce Chris Walley’s entry as the overall winner of the contest with his entry featured below. Congratulations!

Honourable mentions go to Nick Save, David Leahey and Alexander Andre Cobb (who can deny a classic comedy entry!) whose entries can all be seen within the below links.

Congratulations to Chris who will be receiving an Elite T-Shirt and a Gift Voucher, and a massive thank you to everyone who participated. It’s been a truly wonderful anniversary for Elite , and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support from all of the fans.

Well done to the winner, you are the envy of Elite fans with your own official T-shirt.

However, I agree with some of the comments i've read on Facebook,
I was under the impression that it was a competition to design a new ship.
If I had realised that we could enter existing ships, I too would have drawn a Cobra
or a Viper or an Imp. Courier.

Good picture though, not sure I'd want game graphics like that.

Again, well done to Chris Walley and the three honourable mentions.

Yeah, I see where the confusion came from! Contest announcement said "Perhaps you want to re-create the famous Cobra MKIII in wireframe. Or see how it’d look graphically enhanced? Or maybe you want to create an entirely new design of ship?" but also "To enter, all you have to do to is draw your ideal spacecraft".

Never-the-less, there will be more contests in the future :-D
