Elite starting grow thin for me

Well after about a weeks running around, I finally get the credits to purchase a Hauler along with a docking computer (Around 28,000 credits)

Took it out for a spin and tried the docking computer out....worked a treat and sipped my cuppa grinning as my computer glided me into dock

Then undocked and head off to Aulin Enterprise. Came out of hyperdrive and started to super cruise to station. Waited for the message "Safe Disengage Ready" and then disengaged Super Cruise..... Next thing boom!! ship destroyed instantly!!....Lost everything & couldn't afford to buy the insurance to replace it all!!!

I understand its a Beta ect and that'll teach me to purchase Beta's from now on...but how crap is that. Thats me done with game for a long while now....can't be bothered to go building up credits for another week!!!

I'd rather go back to EVE Online than start all over again with this!

Completly gutted :(

So

Why did you not leave enough money for insurance?
If Elite is starting to grow thin for you, I suggest you wait a bit, atleast until the next update.

Something identical happened to me, again with a full hauler and coming out of a jump. Must be a bug. You had no Insurance ?...

and yet again, own mistake is thrown onto developers, yes, they could implement now free insurance so we would never lose anything and players who do not bother playing safe would not post how their own mistakes (not having enough money is a mistake) killed their fun but we have insurance and have to think ahead, never fly with not enough cash to cover insurance, never invest all your money into your cargo etc.

accidents happen, you could hit boost, accidentally fire to station, npc can ram you, you can blow up exiting superc-ruise in numerous ways etc. etc. so WHY would you fly without enough cash? not smart ;/

Ouch! :(

I always ran with enough creds for insurance and enough to cover my cargo again, (even if it meant hauling at half or less of my cargo capacity.)

Sure it took me a bit longer, but got me to 20 million without this sort of pain.

Hope to see you back out there soon Commander Belvac.

If you disengage at the last moment, you get dropped very close to the station. That would be excellent, except sometimes it means you get dropped so close that you are tele-fragged by the structure.

Sounds like what happened, unless you were still over 100 km out when dropping out.

No, you arent understanding its a beta, otherwise you wouldnt be complaining a bug ruined your progress and you wouldnt be taking risks like flying without insurance if you understood you were playing a beta likely filled with bugs and unstable.

The point of a beta is to find bugs not to pretend you have a full finished game and complain when you find one. That would be understanding its a beta. Not what you are doing.

I certainly understand frustration. It has been my constant companion in space games, when playing the few I have played.
But seriously, from my point of view,I wouldn't go back to EVE purely because I found it a fist clenchingly annoying experience for a good 5 years (but was the only option),and have been hoping something better would come along. It did,and I am playing it,and as everyone else has said,it's still testing, and I for one am already replacing frustration with joy despite constantly finding myself shipless, and penniless, sometimes because of a bug,but mostly because of my own ineptitude.

Actually ONCE because of a bug.

All the best in whatever you decide, but I would urge you to give it a fair chance my friend.

Whew! I was worried there for you!

For a moment, I thought you were going to keep playing until Gamma was released and then post another thread complaining about how the devs wiped everything! Credits, ship, cargo, etc!!

The game can be brutal at times, and especially so whilst still trying to build up a financial buffer.

I crashed my Lakon 6 into a Cobra last night. Cost me upwards of 250,000 Cr. Luckily I have already got my buffer but I do feel for the OP.

Very demoralising!

People forget what the purpose of our existence in a Beta is.

Don't get attached to progression- Wiped for Gamma/Launch

If a bug ruins your fun, perk up... you just found something you can help call out and get fixed so others don't get the same issue-Beta Tester/Bug Reporter

If a player is greifing you- Go solo

Ultimately, we're here to test the game in its current state on a larger scale than what can be tested in house at FD.

Yeah, it sucks... had it happen to me too, but remember.. Sidewinders are free. and you can do whatever you'd like with them.

Grab your sidewinder, go to LP, collect some Gold. Believe me, you need maybe 1 - 2 hours to reach 100k CR. This is the most easy way to earn money in this "Game" at the moment.

How do you figure? Gold happens fairly rarely in the ISS, and you can only pick up four at a time with a sidey. The time estimate seems way off.

Well, in this case i am realy a lucky guy! ;)

I would say i need 5 - 10 minutes to find an ISS with gold. Thats 20k CR for 10 Minutes of flying. The Trick is to stay very close to Freeport and fly only very slow in SC to reduce the flight times. ISS´s apearing randomly, no matter where you fly.

Also Scott Manley discribed the gold collecting this way :
