Elite Status Advice Required

I reckon there are a lot of elite combat pilots out there from splatting scouts in a corvette who should really be embarrassed about that decal on the front of their ship.
They would still have had to 'grind' their way through blowing up thousands of them... Same as earning it any other way, just collect enough numbers and it is yours... Same as any other elite rank, just a number.
(which took me nearly 3 years to get, but still is no indication of my actual combat skill)

Jesus Christ... why is everyone so damn eager to get to the end of the game so fast (metaphorically speaking).
Just play at a normal rate. You will make Elite eventually. What's the rush.

All I see just lately are posts about... how do I get this done quicker, how do I get that done quicker, why is super cruise so slow, etc.....

Have some bloody patience commanders.
Because people need a reason to post rage quit grind posts or "I've made triple elite Elite in a week, the game is boring" posts. Some peoples goals are to play the game, some others goals are to cheese themselves off and post on the forum. You have to remember that the forum is the end game :D

That's a fair enough opinion, too.
Mine is that it's one thing to stick a heap of turrets on a corvette and keep the top face pointed in the general direction of an enemy, and quite another to learn fixed weapons and fit them to a small/medium ship and actually dogfight. I also think I can have a pretty good guess at who is and isn't developing combat skill.
But they've gotta get that combat leet tough sticker FAST!!!

That is the benefit to a sandbox game, isn't it, nothing really makes any difference provided the 'target' is met as the sticker will be given.
Unless a player has intentions of 'gittin gud' at PvP pretty mediocre combat skills will suffice, the challenge by non-optional NPCs should be just about right... (and being blunt, there is no need to play the optional content, ever)

You and I may used fixed weapons mostly / exclusively - it is a choice - but I wouldn't think less of anyone who didn't - but then, I just play a game 🤷‍♂️

I'm just elite in combat after years of blasting brain dead NPCs. I am still at Entrepreneur for trade and Pathfinder for exploration. I feel no interest in getting Elite for them. Should there be another unique incentive towards getting Elite for each of the 3? We have cool decals we unlock, maybe some other minor rewards.

The rush to get Jameson unlocked feels like a symptom of a bad design around finding parts reliably. Online tools aren't always reliable for finding outfitting. Going to Jameson is just for convenience for me; the discount doesn't even feel needed.
