Elite Status

Hello all and greetings to fellow explorers

Can any let me know what the scoring is to get to Elite status in exploring.

What roughly does it take in number of scan's etc.

I know its not an exact science but out of curiosity what did it take you and how long.

I'm currently about 500ly east and down of habitable space making my way across the Orion's arm (doing this one system jump at time).

It's very quiet out here.

I hope someone can hear me scream....

From zero to Elite will take approximately 2700 neutron star scans, give or take a few. It's all about the credits so it will vary from person to person as to how fast you get there if you leave Neutrons alone (approx 160 million required or so I heard).

Approximately 200 million credits earned by exploration for elite. I think this is not exact, the formula I think is more complex involving the number of scans, the number of visited systems, etc. But for typical scanning patterns it is about that much.

It does vary, but Eddy is right in the 160 million ball park. I suggest people post here what it took to get to elite, posting both scanned systems and money earned.

If you think the scanning takes a long time - wait until you try and turn it all in.... next 20... next ....

I did it a few days ago and rolled over to Elite at 160m. It took me 3 days just to sell the data and I used an automated mouse program and left it running!!

Yeah, when you are out there it's a really bad idea to occupy your time by doing the math on how many jumps and scans you need to hit Elite - whichever way you look at it you'll probably need to scan about 7000 random things - or be the first to discover 2100 neutron stars. I disagree with the people that say Neutron farming makes exploration easy !

I'm pretty sure I saw someone post they had made Elite with 140 MCr. I wonder if the number of systems scanned - all those Lvl 2 and Lvl 3 type things -- matter as well.

I hit Pioneer with 43 MCr, so I don't think they doubled them with 1.2.

arrgh just short of pioneer status even after 2 hours selling back data from my 3 week trip - 41mcr so still only 25% of the way to elite. Spending some time grinding to Anaconda then I think I will finally go to the core and stuff.

I hit Pioneer almost exactly at 60 MCr after 1.2. But credits are only an approximate heuristic, the real formula is unknown.

That is my suspicions. For a long time it seemed to the belief was exploration rank was dependent solely on how much you made. I'm not so sure that is true.

Exploration isn't solely based on the amount earned, but also includes systems visited at some level. I know this because I got Mostly Aimless while doing rare trade runs in a T6 with no discovery scanners whatsoever on it. I think I had ~170 systems visited at the point I got Mostly Aimless :)

Nice. Just out of interest how many systems have you visited according to your exploring stats?

I'm at 6,011 systems at the moment, if that helps. That being said, I am pretty sure the exploration ranks are credit driven seeing how my ranks go up based on specific credit thresholds

I've copied this off the net recently but I don't know where I got it from or how accurate it is, still it maybe of help to some.

I'm Mostly Harmless in Exploration but I have hopes of leaving this not so civilised population bubble today, I'll do a short trip out to the outer arm and have a wander around for a week just to get the hang of it, at least that's the plan. I'll maybe tackle Sag A if I like this exploration thing though I hear the 'Pilots Federation' are going to set up a 'Toll Booth' due to all the tourist activity in the system along with restrictions on the dumping of Bio waste.
