I know we can look up everything online, but is there somewhere in-game we can see the stories that have already played out on PC and XBox One, with locations for us to trace the routes players would have taken back then?
Will be fun going through the mysteries and Thargoid content once I press out of the bubble.

Sorry to mention this. But your story will be, what you make from what you have.
There is no fixed lines. There is a 30year history on the line, some books to read along the lore.
But noone gives a story line is a way Do this, to that, ..., achieve something.
You are to set your own goals and your own path to achieve it.

For information about something going on use this forum or Reddit, or join a group
they can possibly fill your bucket.

That's not what I mean, I'm talking about the major events and discoveries like the Rift, discovery of Barnacles, UAs, etc. Don't think there is anything though, so will have to look up details online, bit of a shame not to have it all available for our Commanders to read in-game.

There is a galaxy news network of every going on in the galaxy in game. When your docked at a station enter starport services. Press X on Galnet news.

Just to add, If you want to check out the galnet news on a android phone while your at work and plan your trade routes. I recommend Galnet News from the Frontier and Elite Dangerous Tradepad. Both are free to use.

Teh information online can be seen above. Outside of that try EDSM.net, Inara.cz, which are sharing community goals, exploraiton trips and such things on a regaular basis.
Maybe this takes you further.

Galnet is the in game news coverage for the game, I read this for my storyline fixes, I have also read a lot of the Elite books and they are all really well written. Some tourist sites also have beacons that have some background story to them also, so when you scan them for the passengers you get a snippet of what happened and why.

You can go and find the generation ships and decode their data for a chilling story as well.

Ultimately though Elite Dangerous is all about you as a single commander trying to make their own way in a dangerous galaxy.
