Elite uses my EA/Origin login name in Scenarios

Login name in Scenarios

I've only played the Combat Scenarios up to now; but when I go into the info panel, it shows my EA/Origin login as my Commander name, rather than daniu (the one I chose for the Kickstarter backing).
It works fine when I go online.
Why on earth does it use the Origin login, of all things? I can tell it's Origin because that's pretty much the only one I didn't use daniu for.

Did I miss that ED is tied to Origin in some way? Will it be distributed by EA?

That sounds pretty strange. I never thought to look at that. But I certainly hope you are wrong.

The game used to use your computers name as you player name back in alpha. Is your computer name the same as your ea/origin name?

Oh... that might actually be the case.
Will have to check back when I get home, but now that you mention it, it's a very good possibility.

Bought Far Cry 3 in a Steam sale, then when installing "you need to register with Origin"... damn now I remember why I didn't buy it before
Solid game though, FC3, did not regret.

It's actually pretty good and solid. They only had some birthing pains in the beginning with that little spying scandal. But that has been resolved for a very long time now. Nothing to worry about. If you use Steam you can just as well use Origin (and Uplay).

Launchers are here to stay, so you might as well embace them. Besides, Elite Dangerous utilizes an online launcher as well. Just saying.
