DAMN SONY TO HELL!

I have a PSP and after reading the post regarding the Frontier port, I eagerly downloaded it and...

I can't run it thanks to Sony's ridiculous views on running (or rather NOT running) free, homemade stuff! - I upgraded my Firmware recently to the new 2.7, and now I'm well and truly screwed!

Anybody know how to get rid of this new firmware version?

While I sympathise, circumnavigating Sony's hardware is not something that can be discussed on this forum.

Has the idea of bringing a legitimate Elite sequel to either the DS or the psp been discussed at Frontier?

If a PSP version was released, it couldnt be freeware homebrew, because 99% of us have "foolishly" upgraded our firmware.

It would have to be a comercial release, which takes a LONG time. :(

As for porting to DS/PSP et al...not sure. It might be the case that this relies a lot on PocketPC system APIs for doing the graphics so it probably wont be a straightforward recompile etc.

I dunno, I recall it being written to run on a few models of mobile phones as well. Although, they may be using Pocket PC smartphone edition.

I got hold of Darxide and was impressed by the 3D graphics. Unfortunately, in my travels I have lost my entire Pocket PC memory, so until I get access to my PC, I can't play it again.

Elite Pocket PC

http://www.eliteppc.com/ Someone actually did a conversion of Elite for Pocket PC, about 2 or 3 years ago... but the copyright holders put a stop to it... It was out only for a few weeks if I recall.. This was around the same time that Darxide for Pocket PC was getting ready to be released... Elite plays pretty well on my Pocket PC.. ;)
