Elite's Lore?

I'm wondering. For a license that has been around for so long, there must have been plots, lore and such. I'd like to know about the Feds, about the Empire, what do they do, what earth became, aliens were also mentioned, and I'd like to know what happened in general before.

I didn't find anything on the wiki... nor anywhere else tbh. Is there a place where I could get upldated on all that?

It's a nice read but it doesn't tie too much with ED I found, or at least not with what one would consider to be the backstory of the game.

Anyway, us not knowing too much might be somewhat on purpose, they're trying to sell a bunch of books after all and the answers you seek might be in them.
