Elliptical gas giants - new?

Hi,
just noticed today a couple of gas giants looking rather elliptical (or less circular) in the FSS, like this:

Just wondering, whether this is something new (Update 15?), or whether there has always been planets looking like this and I just haven't paid attention or happened on such.
Or if this is a recent change (Update 15?), is it a bug or on purpose? (I know even real planets like Earth are not perfect spheres, so this may well be realistic as far as I can tell.)

Has anyone else noticed similar, and / or have you any ideas on the phenomenon?

There was a thread about it I recall, will see if I can find it, nope, I am sure it was there once, it may have slipped away, but yes, always I think, don't ever recall a time there weren't elliptical gas giants.
