General / Off-Topic Elon Musk Vile Tweet

I thought it was obvious it was a publicity stunt. Now he's really sour people who actually knew what they were doing did it without him standing over their shoulder.

Hes a man who has had some great ideas, and some very stupid ones.... The problem is, he cant take any criticism whatsoever and throws tantrums...

I have never liked him from the start.. His ego always outweighs anything positive that he does. But thats just my opinion.

Whether or not the damn thing would have fit is almost beside the point. Calling someone a Pedo is pretty low. Musk couldn't remain a bit professional about the thing obviously.

I thinks he's a knobber.

Tesla is running into management and money problems, and Musk has been becoming increasingly brittle over the last few months.

But there's no excuse for this.

I don't think it has anything to do with Tesla. It was never profitable and was always living off investor money.
But it does seem that Musk is kind of veering off of the "Nice guy billionaire" image he's built over the years. Interesting to watch.

Regardless of being a publicity stunt or not, he just took a design known and used in mining rescue since the mid 1950's and made it watertight.
It's called the Dahlbusch Bomb or the Fènix capsules:

Dahlbusch Bomb (first use in Germany, 1955) at the scene of the Lengede Mining disaster, November, 1963:

And people want a "tribute" to this knucklehead in the game.

...

No. In my opinion, he's a (no swearing allowed).

Alright, now looking into it, I am siding with Musk 100%

Naturally he shouldn't have called Vernon Unsworth pedo. That was uncalled for, but he didn't do it in regards to the footballers, but in a sense "Why would a Brit be in Thailand, anyway". I think it was meant as a snarky remark, rather than an offense.
And everything he said is true. He nailed that argument. There are six brits listed in the rescue efforts and Vernon Unsworth isn't one of them.

I think people take offense too easily, it's just bants, that's basically what social media entails.

I think that's the problem, though. If this conversation took place in a pub over a beer, nobody would bat the eye. But once press smells blood in the water... Even the tiniest of "news" can be blown out as an international scandal.

There is no bad publicity or good publicity. There is just publicity.

Listening to what my engineering colleagues are saying today I'd have to disagree with that Chris. Remember the Gerald Ratner speech back in the 90's where he called his own jewelry "cr*p"? Lost him 2500 retail outlets and his fortune.

You are confusing publicity and marketing. For publicity it doesn't matter. People just hear his name and go check.
Marketing is a completely different matter, of course. If he'd start saying Teslas are crap, then it could be a disaster, of course.

But he doesn't do that. He will always show his products in a good light. But he as a person likes to gain attention by controversy.

There's a difference between 'bants' and calling someone what he did, he obviously wanted to discredit the diver as untrustworthy around children. That alone is definitely worth legal action not because the diver is a carebear/snowflake with hurt feelings but it affects his future employment.

Right and many people like to "Discredit" legitimate christian priests or Pizza executives everywhere on the basis that some priests are pedophiles(or someone said a bad word of anything over the phone), and on the basis that many people are Sexpats in Thailand, suddenly it's an earth shattering statement and justification for legal action when someone calls someone a pedo in this circumstance with obvious jest? From my point of view this outrage has actually improved the employment opportunity of the person who took offense.

I don't see how "[my sub is fight and will go aaaaall the way! (paraphrased)] Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it." without any basis even in common prejudice or even from local context warrants as being in jest except maybe if you're talking to a 12 year old…
