I chose to travel to Khun and speak with Elvira to upgrade my FSD jump range.
Did a bit of googling and stopped off to grab 3 x soontil relics, and a wake scanner.
Soontill Relics can be picked up in the Ngurii system at Cheranovsky City.
I needed a bit of arsenic (which I had) but I also needed...
2 x Atypical Disrupted Wake Echoes (fit your ship with a wake scanner)
2 x Chemical Processors (quite common in RES)
Ok, I learned the hard way, flying randomly trying to find unknown signals, but eventually came across:
KHUN 13, it's a ringed planet which has a heap of resource extraction sites (not shown in your sys map or gui)
The planet is a bit off the beaten track, 4k LS from Elviras base (watch the G's landing at Elviras base)
I found the materials I needed in the resource site, within a couple of minutes, just tag along with the system security and blast a few pirates, check for contacts in the gui and search for chemical processors. Wake scans you can pick up virtually anywhere, so for the first step to upgrade your FSD, it can be done in the same system as Elvira, and the resource sites are plenty for any style. As soon as a ship goes down, check for the materials, they don't last long. It was quite fun to be messing with the cargo scoop while a battle raged all around me, 2 x Security Anacondas/3 x vipers -V- a boatload of ebil piwates,
So going to hang around Khun a bit, and hope to add to this little topic as I work my way up to level 5 FSD Range boost

EDIT: For the second upgrade you need some PRASEODYMIUM. This needs to be mined, luckily I have another great tip.
The next system to Khun is ROSS 667 the great thing about this system is it has a city with quite a bit of good stuff.
I have an ASP Explorer fitted for RES (I have 2, one is my stripped deep space explorer) but this is what I did to grab some PRASEODYMIUM
Go to Alexander Terminal swap out 2 x weapons for C1 mining lasers, don't forget to buy a REFINERY.
I used a C3 slot and swapped out hull reinforecment for a REFINERY. Luckily theres a metallic ringed planet, just 46Ls from the station, woop woop!
Go there and land in the 2nd ring, the largest outer one, it's lighter, the brown inner one is the rocky ring. You'll know becuase they look like giant floating space turds.
blast a few rocks until you see PRASEODYMIUM and start collecting it until it refines you a nice unit. It will auto refine, you'll know by checking your cargo.
NOTE: I chose a part of the ring outside the RES (yes there's RES and CZ aplenty on this planet) a Vulture did turn up but as I was doing a quick
Sir Robin, the police turned up so we killed it. I didn't get anything else turn up after they left. But you could kill 2 birds with one stone and just go
to the RES site there (choose the one in the 2nd ring Metallics) and shoot stuff for the Chemical processors, while mining a bit at the same time
I might move to Alexander Terminal in ROSS 667 (Khun is the next system) as it's more convenient with a full station features. But going to start looking for
a Arsenic planet/moon next that's local and will let you know. Then you could grab the stuff and hop over to see Elvira and her GETH base radio operator
when you got the stuff
ps. I never tried mining in ED, but I must say it was an awesome experience and took me back to EVE. Blasting the rocks was way cool, don't leave the stuff too
long hanging in space as it will disappear after about 5-10 mins. You only get about 10 pieces of stuff from each rock, the nobium was a little plus too. I stayed until I had 4 cans
of Praseodymium in my cargo, plus 2 x gold (loads of that there too) but it was just the novelty as a good RES site is where the credits are.
