ELW's, do you check the night side for lights?

I have a feeling most of the explorers who look for ELW's make sure they fly over the night side of the planet to check for advanced life forms who would light up whatever type of gathering they might have created.

I am not sure if flying over North America when it was just Native Americans (Indian) and the smaller tribal groups could be detected this way. Would be interesting if someone had a good idea on this. Would a group of camp fires be seen from altitude? I suspect not.

Hopefully someday we can have boots in atmosphere worlds and explore them. Spending 5 years on a planet where they thought you were a god would be a kick. That though is another thread to be discussed..lol

Right now just if you always check the night side and how advanced does a civilization need to be to have them noticed this way?

Keep finding the blue shinies

I have been guilty of this practice although I certainly don't do it every time, simply because I don't think FD has implemented any such mechanic in the game.

I'm not sure at what stage a civilisation becomes visible. But at a guess I think the gas lamps in London in the early to mid 1800s probably would have been visible, maybe as a dull glow (since they do not emit the high wattage light modern lamps provide).

I have seen nightside lighting inside the bubble, but never gone looking for it out in the black.

I have to admit the lighting in the bubble is only this past week noticed.

I do this to most ELW's and Ammonia Worlds. I don't expect to find anything, but it'd be a hell discovery if something was there.

All my ELW's have been in unpopulated systems. I've only assumed that populated means humans. I've only considered that the life down there is less advanced than humans and it took us a long time to create large areas of light. I guess life could be alien and not counted as population but I doubt it.

I should clarify my above statement...

Yes, lights on the darkside of "human" worlds are in FD...just not "alien" lights, at least as far as anybody has seen. I do look occasionally but am not hopeful, because aliens are "not yet" in ED (hopefully soon)

No chance to see camp fires from outer space altitude.

As far as I am gone there is no lightning effects on out of bubble worlds. In no form.
There is none to alien lifeforms.

No vulcanos glowing, no bushfires and no thunderstorms that enlight the surface.
But i think these are a little to much of detailed work. Nevertheless I would give
my Clipper to see them.

Miklos

I do it most of the time, but not too often. Normal campfires won't be seen from space even if they are there, though, you really need city lights to really know there's a civilization out there. Haven't found a lit dark side out in the black yet in my 100+ previously untagged ELW's, though (not exactly Chiggy numbers, but they're mine :D)

It would be nice to see flashes of lightning from storms around earth like worlds within the bubble at least, maybe the odd red glow and smoke rising from wildfires on it's surface. I won't hold my breath for that one though, I would rather they fix the broken bits of the game before adding more eye candy.

I know FD hasn't coded in anything for ELW's to have advanced civilizations but I still always check. Do the thargoids breathe the same type of atmosphere as us or are they ammonia breathers? I really enjoys finding ELW's so the few extra minutes are not a problem, I usually get a screen shot of my ship against the planet with the bottom third of the world in darkness.

It kinda like believing in Santa or the Easter bunny, not because it is true but because it is fun. (I am sure my grandkids would not argue that point)

I check the darkside of every ELW, WW, and AW I come across out in the black. I've not found anything yet, but I keep checking anyway, it only takes one time to be a breakthrough! Plus I just like looking at those worlds up close anyhow.

Whenever I find an ELW I always take videos of the ship flying by it, which invariably means videoing the dark side as well. I used to do that to AW as well.

Found nothing yet.

I've found over 30 ELWs, mainly from Distant Worlds and haven't actually registered them on the list yet. I have screenshots of every system map though that they're in.
