ELYSIUM CORP DELIVER THE GOODS
Osmium Request Deemed a Success
Just days ago LHS 2936 Alliance Combined declared that their request for Commanders to deliver Osmium to Fraser Orbital had been a total success. Nearly 190,000 tons had been delivered during the requests duration.
While details of the enlisted Commanders and their delivery totals have thus far been kept under wraps by the Alliance Combined Officials, earlier today a local source provided us with information that Elysium Corp made huge efforts to make sure that their name was among the top contributors.
Based here in Yembo, the Elysium Corp miners journeyed 102ly to provide the Osmium and used a system a further 50ly to mine the metal itself. We caught up with Head of Mining Cmdr Polish Dan. We asked the Cmdr about the recent venture and why, with no apparent ties to Alliance space, they were so willing to utilise their resources in aid of the Alliance combined.
"Where alliances are concerned I have no idea. The job came from top brass upstairs. Any more than that is above my pay grade. For me this was the moment we had been waiting for. Our lads are the best you'll find and in my mind an ideal chance to test ourselves. We put in the work and we reaped the rewards. My team knew what was expected of them when the time came and there was never any doubt that we'd lead from the front."
As Osmium is unavailable to purchase outright for Commanders anywhere, it leaves them no option other than to mine the metal directly out of asteroids. For all it was another day in the office for them, Polish Dan told us of how it very nearly never came to be and that the Elysium Osmium effort was almost grounded before it even had chance to take off.
"We'd mined all night to fill ourselves up as usual. Nearly One Thousand tons carried over One Hundred light years to get it to Fraser Orbital. On delivery we signed in to say we were going to be bringing in Osmium and that we already had bays full in the hangar. You can imagine our mood when three times they told us our cargo was 'unacceptable' . Eventually, after some of the lads had continued to question the station monkeys, they stung us with the small print as they do. Our canister serial numbers didn't match our ship inventory records and so they were basically saying our dust was as good as stolen. Can you believe it? We explained it was all above board and that the canisters we used were Elysium Corp standard issue and weren't assigned to individual commanders but I may as well have been trying to explain it in Thargoid."
"I totally understood why we lost numbers after this. It's not easy work and for station surveyors to turn their noses up at the hours we put in, it's enough to destroy any mans soul. Not to mention the amount of walls we banged our heads against and the palms we slapped in our own faces."
The treatment received at the station almost stemmed the complete U-turn of Elysium workers and some did in fact return to the home system. Despite losing such key members of the team, those remaining managed to keep the flag held aloft for Elysium and the tons began to rise though the hundreds up to the Thousands.
We were unable to attain any exact figures from the Department of Commerce, under which the Mining Department is directed, but the Head of Mining was more than happy to provide us with figures he did know to be true.
With 1513 Commanders contributing 189,638 tons of Osmium at the request of LHS 2936, the average haul per Commander was 125 tons of Osmium. The Elysium Corp's 4 contributing members delivered almost 5000 tons of Osmium, resulting in them providing nearly 2.5% of the grand total of amassed metal.
"We are a well oiled machine. Myself, Pollycough, Cpt. Future, Tiny BigJacko and Demetrios use a system based solely on teamwork. Nobody can expect to reach any sort of real figures without help. I am extremely proud of what the team has achieved and the standard we set. I know that other Commanders had been left wide eyed and open mouthed after some of our figures were leaked within the station. This was proof that our mission had been a success. Our ability had been tested and proved superior."
"Having said that, at the same I cant help but feel a real sense of disappointment. The reaction we received on completing the mission was earned with only half the cohort. Imagine what the reaction would have been if we had the full squad out? Losing a key member such as Jacko to Station negligence was a hard pill to swallow. He is part of the machine and the machine lost a cog that day. Yes, it still worked but in the back of your mind you know it had so much more to give. Five Thousand tons we nearly mined and that's not including the stuff they wouldn't register. You begin to see the picture of what could have been."
Since the request for Osmium has now been withdrawn with Alliance Combined hailing it a success, the majority of Commanders have returned to active duty within their home systems. For the Elysium Corp members, they have returned to find a war torn Yemboand their faction in 'Lockdown' with no clear evidence as to what is causing such problems. Our final question to Polish Dan was simply this. What next for the Elysium Corp agenda?
"Well, for me, it's back to active duty. Concentrating on sorting this mess out would be a start but then all being well everything should be back to normal by the time we are needed again elsewhere. We'll be as ready as ever. At least now we know what to expect from station regs and specs. LHS 2936, for us, will be the foundation we use to build on to get better and better. Who's to say the team won't get bigger by the time we're called in again? It's up to us to keep setting the bar and establish ourselves within the other factions."
With Elysium Corp success in foreign systems, heads are likely to be turned towards Yembo. An obvious push for recognition is surely soon to gather interest from factions of all sizes and not all of it in the interests of the Corp. As Elysium begin to find their feet, it's only a matter of time before they start to step on others' toes.
