I was thinking that there needs to be some method, maybe after the first person update, of an emergency "data dump" of exploration and bounty data. Perhaps a "suit upgrade" with a data crystal that backs up the data in the event of catastrophic failure of your ship. How about different size crystals that would back up certain items. Or maybe, if the idea of a "home base" comes to fruition, a burst transmission to your home base. Just to make it less "exploitable", introduce size restrictions in the crystal, only backing up the last 5 bounties or exploration data until you get a bigger crystal. Or on the burst data idea, introduce "transmission errors" unless you upgrade the antenna.
I got this idea when I had almost 500k in exploration data and forgot to sell it, plus almost 200k in Empire bounties (I was exploring Federation space at the time) then had a, shall we say, unfortunate encounter with the wall of the station. Zoop, no more data. I quit playing for almost 2 full days after that one...
I just thought it would be a neat idea, having the ability to not loose all that hard work. Introduce penalties for sure, or make it pricey to get. Just my 2 cents. Thanks!!
