Emergency Fuel Procedures

Welcome to the great open and dangerous Galaxy Commanders! In about 13 days you will be graduating from the Academy as Pilot Class 3303-PS4 and we welcome you.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Fuel Rats, we're a group of players that will fly to you if/when you run out of fuel to help you keep that rebuy cost, exploration data, cargo, combat bonds or whatever an untimely death would mean to you. We'll also give you some points on fuel scooping, plotting routes on your Galaxy Map and pretty much anything else you ask.

With this graduation you will be thrown into Galaxy to make a living for yourself. You will run into CMDRs of all kinds, but just remember if you need fuel, we'll be there when you call.

We've put together some guidelines to help in the early days and to share information on how to join us for anyone who's interested.

Who you gonna call. FUEL RATS. (But not for a few weeks coz they need to grind for those long range ships too)

Ah, I remember the first time I was running out of fuel on XB1. I had a fuel scoop, but ran into an area with stars I couldn't scoop from! I was in such a panic because I only had enough fuel for 2 more jumps, and being a newbie I had no idea which stars I could scoop from and didn't know how to check if a system had a station. So I chose at random from the galaxy map. First jump was a bust. No fuel, no stations. I spent about 10 minutes looking at the galaxy map trying to figure out of there was a way to tell if a star was scoopable for me or not. Didn't find anything, chose at random and jumped! Unscoopable. No stations. My heart sank! I had my cargo racks full of materials from hours of mining. Had some exploration data and some bounties to turn in as well. I flew around the system for hours hoping another commander would fly by. Nothing.

Rather than self-destruct, I turned off life support and peacefully went to sleep. Forever.

I wish I had known about Fuel Rats!

Getting excited now! Once I have found my feet I look forward to seeing if I can help out.

Incidentally, if we run out of salt, is there any kind of service that will help us restock in game?

Awesome! Looking forward to have PS4 CMDRs join us. As far as the salt, we'll have to see if we can get salt limpets in the game, or setup a CG somewhere...maybe Dearden-Salter One in Calhuacan?

If only we had a way to send up a rat signal in the galaxy map to call for help. Then the rats would be like real super heroes!

Back about 2 years there actually was an in game distress beacon that you could set off. It was removed for a few reasons I'm assuming: it was used my people to setup ambushes, it wasn't responded to when actually needed, it was just used to "test" it out.

It actually caused a lot more problems than it was worth. While our IRC and services are out of game, we have pretty much 24/7 multi-lingual coverage and tend to have a pretty good idea of what's legit and what isn't to try to and keep everyone safe.

Hmmm no Mac OSX in pic. Are you sure you're not a closet Mac-racist? ;)

dammit! (I hate it when I balls up an image)

Ah! But wait! ... you see ... the image was taken on a planetary surface so, much as I'd liked to have included a Mac, until Apple move off OpenGL 4.1 there's really very little I can do about it. Not my fault. :p

phew, saved

Damn, you Fuel Rats are smart AND quick!

Thanks for offering your services to Cmdrs using the Deep Space 4 flight software. Looking forward to your services - hopefully I won't need the too often ;)

if i could give +1 rep to the fuels rats as a group i would, might never need them but good to know they are there just in case
