Emperors Grace and Cosmic State invite the WHOLE community to lobby for CLASS 3 MULTICANNON!

Those of you following the official GalNet have seen news about Emperors Grace and Cosmic State, creating a joint venture weapon research and production company:

We hope that this could lead to create a new weapon for the community. We have been brainstorming about what it could be and everyone agrees that class 3 multicannons is what the game is missing.

Of course its up to developers to create such a new content. This is the first time we reveal our hopes, we did NOT ask the devs to consider this yet. In our opinion, its up to the community. If we all team up and ask nicely, I believe devs will consider that option.

To make it happen, we have a big idea. We are calling ALL player groups to do this together. Lets create a Lugh size series of community goals! Yes, we are calling everyone, not only friendly groups, but also people who dont like, or even hate us. We would like propose Arugua system for this.

Every group would ask for its own community goal to contribute- trading groups like EIC would have "deliver electronics and weapons" CG, the CODE would have "pirate data transports", Lavignys Legion would have bounty hunting CG, to keep the system free from pirates, Marias Mining Corp would "deliver mined metals", AEDC would "transport diplomatic data", Aisling Angels would "deliver machinery, to avoid slave work", Adles Armada would have a combat CG to win the rights for the weapon production rights and so on... The rewards for each of them would be selecting a station that sells the new weapons. This are only the examples, every group knows the best what kind of CG they would like to have. I believe even the Elite Racers could come up with their own. So could Mercs of Mikunn, Crimson State Group, Angeli Imperiali... I cant mention every group, but I hope you get what we mean.

Neutral, single player can take part in the CGs, getting not only the class 3 multicannons, but also good pofit from CGs reward.

If thats techincally possible, the CGs rewards would influence the price, stats and type (fixed, gimballed, turreted) of the weapons. But this is only theorizing, as its up to devs. Also, it would be great to set them as opposing ones (eg trade vs pirate vs bounty hunting).

Guys, we are Elite: Dangerous community. Despite of our differences, we all have a lot in common. We can fight and destroy ourselves on daily basis, we can be on the opposite sides of every barricade, but still- we play the same game. I have more in common with every one of you than with a guy that lives down the road. We can do things together. And have a lot of fun with it.

The first step would be gathering the support for the idea. Please pm me, so we can make a list of player groups that are interested in taking part in this big adventure. Then I would rely the list to the Frontier.

Lets unite in this noble goal! Lets get the CLASS 3 MULTICANNONS, for everyone!
 
The thing I am the most afraid of in this initiative, is that the class 3 MC will be utterly devastating AND fun to use.

Thus FDev will limit the number of rounds to 300 instead of the current thousand we currently have.
 
Fuel Rat CG: Survive the carnage and try to fuel all sides.
Goal:
Tier 1: 100 limpets to any CMDR doing a CG in Arugua.
Tier 2: 1000 limpets
Tier 3: 100,000 limpets.
Reward: The fuel enforcerer unlocked - a multi-cannon-fuel transferer that shoots 12-14 limpets per second + small cash bonus.

Let chaos begin :D

It would need to be properly balanced, of course. Its up to devs. I just hope it would be more useful than eg. cytoscrambler...

A love of large caliber rapid fire kinetic weapons




A CG or series of community events that lead to the public release of a class 3 MC (or Auto-cannon or Bofors or Quad QF1lbser Pom Poms or your artistic choice here) sounds like a capital idea
 
I am not sure we need a Class 3 Multi-cannon, think of the Vulture it would be carnage.

CGs, excellent idea though, Lugh was so much fun (ok, fair amount of Fed grumbling after main show), about time for another set of linked CGs.

It includes a discussion for the need/desire for such a weapon, and some Dev response(s) as well.

As much as I enjoy CG's I would not like to see participation in one being a requirement to having access to any gear. It would be fun to contribute to a weapon's creation, but it should be as available as any other weapon once in game.

Personally, I am quite happy with multicannons being limited to class 2. I like, how they are construed as anti-small-vessel-guns to shoot down all these pesky nimble fighters. They simply don't translate well into large ship destroyers, imo.

However, I wouldn't mind a large, faster firing double-gun, making some satisfying "Woot-Woot! Woot-Woot!"-sounds instead of the fast "Ratatatatat!" of multicannons. A little bit like Antal's enforcer cannon, that might be more in the line of suitable fire speed - beside the fact that the enforcer cannon doesn't fire double-shots and is small and fixed (and hence sucks)...
 
I would definitely like to see some sort of rapid fire c3 cannon. Maybe not a gatling gun design but something like this would look cool.

This is a genuine offer to all players and player groups. There are many types of weapons we'd love to collectively see on our ships and this is the first player wide proposal we have suggested.

If you have followed Galnet News you will have read two articles where Cosmic State and Emperor's Grace first of all announced the formation of a joint technology company with a second Galnet article where production facilities have now been sourced. This forms part of the narrative that is featuring on Galnet and is part of a continuing RP which we believe can benefit the entire gaming community.

Please contact Raf via Reddit to be included in discussions and please petition the developers collectively and individually for this superb series of community goals which will lead to the availability of new weapons for the game.

Love the idea, but several CGs in parallel sounds awkward. How about 1 large CG with multiple contribution paths instead? The overall success is based on a CR value and there are 5 or 6 things you can do to contribute (like trade gold, trade computer components, trade robotics, smuggle prototype tech, bounty hunt saboteurs, some form of pirating if you must - maybe pirate tech vessels) Each contribution path has a minimum that needs reaching for the overall CG to work but you can continue to contribute in that path until the much higher total CG value is reached.
 
A faster firing, perhaps even with a spread dispersal-pattern flak pom-pom multi-cannon. Oooh, yes please. Still counts as a class 2 weapon for damage purposes, but much faster firing and with a wide 'flak' area to make catching those pesky smalls a lot easier when they zip about and peck at large ships from all angles.

Plus, I'm dreaming about what the sound department at FDev would do and... /swoon.

Overall, it's a super idea.
