Empire and Federation Civil War in Mat Zemlya

A civil war has begun between Emperor's Grace and Coalition of Mat Zemlya. The system is a low population extraction/refinery economy that is independently aligned with the local Mat Zemlya Universal & Co faction. Several conflict zones have erupt between Empire and Federation forces. There is currently only speculation as to what caused the conflict to break out.

Cool - any confirmation? Looks like it could be the place to be tonight.

Focus... don't let minor squabbles derail the main objective at Khaka that goal still needs to be completed.

It doesn't appear that there's anything to gain from the system itself. The Federation could just be trying to flush out the weaker Empire faction to gain a stronger foothold in the local area.

I totally agree but with 'Powerplay' not too far away now, it just sounds like the kind of thing that could be on it's way on a much bigger scale. I'm hoping the Fed v Empire war will kick off one day and then we'll all have to nail our colours to the mast. :)

I wonder if an eventual all-out war between the Federation and Empire will start because of all sorts of minor factions aligned with them slapping each other about over minor quibbles, and eventually so many of these little wars break out that there's political pressure on each major side's leaders to support their allies, thereby dragging them into direct confrontation and war.

Found the same in Mata yesterday. Federal and Imperial Navy in open combat. Allied with both so I reluctantly choose a side and just got the 9 kills I needed for a mission. Lost some influence with Citizens of tradition :)

Would be nice if both sides brought in bigger ships.

Something similar is happening in Mata. A Fed faction is fighting an Empire faction. First time shooting Imperial Navy dudes.

My money is that it is a "regular" civil war between two factions in system for control over a statiom/outpost, as this isnt the first shooting fight between Minor Imperial and Minor Federal Factions.

Consider it two over zealous local factions in a dispute of mining claims

Well, I for one am off to contribute to the Empire's victory in this new battlefield. Feel free to keep throwing your time into boring trucking, though, everyone else! No need for you to show up and prevent your precious Federation being humiliated across the rest of the galaxy.

"Mother Earth". In Russian.

Just letting you know. :)

I've already been there and atomized a few of those Feds. There are quite a few low intensity conflict zones around the Empire's outpost which is ideal for hopping back and forth.

The latest DB interview yoday in games radar says 1.3 is "later this year" so I imagine its nothing to do with that as its potentially months away.

The world of Elite: Dangerous on PC is overwhelmingly expansive and constant updates across the galaxy such as Wings (out now) and Powerplay (an expected update for later this year) will make the world even bigger. Expansions bleed into the main game, making the universe endless and that’s what Braben feels is key to its success.
