Empire ascension mission, rank requirement

I've been grinding after the Empire ships since I nearly started the game. After giving up several times and giving up on the grind for the rank that I didn't fully understand. I'm now back and gave it another go. I've finally gotten from Outsider to Serf. After fixing my standings from taking "kill missions," (because you know, they sound like more fun than grinding trade missions) the Serf Ascension mission popped a few days ago. Since then I've been grinding, and grinding (and more grinding) standings and doing every possible mission that didn't include killing someone or illegal cargo. There were a TON of them that I completed (to the tune of roughly 500k cr sunk into the missions) Far more than I've read most people saying they're doing to go between MUCH higher ranks. While writing a nasty letter to support over this I figured I'd check one more time to see if it popped. Surprise it did.

I've got to be Trade Rank Entrepreneur to accept the mission. Seriously? SERIOUSLY?!

This game is grindy enough. I can make roughly 5 mil credits a day grinding non-stop in my T6. I'm currently a Merchant. So its going to take me roughly 26 days to go from where I am to enough rank to get Master. To hell with the Baron rank at this point. This is beyond absurd!

Please tell me this is a glitch otherwise I'm done with this idiocy.

It's not a glitch, some types of ascension missions just require higher pilot fed rank. There isn't just "one" ascension mission per rank, once you clear the threshold to be given one it will keep spitting them out until you move up to that rank so just move station or log out and back in and you will find it will generate another one, one that isn't pilot fed rank locked.

Hey, at least ascension missions are appearing in your bulletin, though unavailable now. I have not have a single ascension mission, available or unavailable, appearing in my bulletin for nearly 2 weeks, and for some other CMDR, months. If you still see the unavailable missions, just keep going at it, one day there will be an available mission for you.

I did, actually while I was the thread I'd closed the Bulletin Board and re-opened it. An Available one did show up. Thanks Tetra

This game! I haven't tried exploration yet but it sounds rather exciting. Bounty hunting can be fun. Trading, boring... but lots of profit and evading pirates can add a bit of excitement. This mission system is for the birds! Its bad! BAD bad. I feel your pain Akatuki. Its taken me a very, VERY long time to get this far. I wish I had the luck of others that seem to go multiple ranks in one day of play.

Here's to hoping they fix this. I can GUARANTEE you the only reason the majority of people are doing these missions is to gain access to ships. Its actually painful.
