Empire establishing foothold in New Marlinist Systems from Recent CGs

Depends if FDev is paying attention and are willing to mess with a player group.
They've held some of the recent CGs in PMF systems/stations, which was just luck of the draw for them happening to be where the CG was.

A group actively taking over a Marlinist system should I think expect consequences for getting involved with the plot :)
(Not necessarily all negative ones, either, of course)

you get retreat pending at 2,5%. you retreat on the last tick of retreat if under 2,5%. so - they won't retreat with current value, but the state will run its full length.

Marlinism Reformation Party is now down to 2%. So I guess they're leaving after all, unless they get rescued. Later I'll see what I can do, but it might be too little too late.

They're only beyond hope if they're below 2.5% on the last day of retreat (ejected the next day if they are). Any time before then, hit the missions to push them up.

...Well, I'm back on.

Update: the Marlinist controlling faction's position in LP 659-31 has improved, and Sacred Knights is down slightly.

However, Marlinism Reformation Party has disappeared, the retreat happened.

OK. It seems that the fight for the Marlinist enclave depends on that one system, so holding it is key.

Expansions from other factions (preferably Independent) would be ideal, but one step at a time.

Avoiding a Retreat and fighting off an active attack on the controlling faction is very tricky to do both. From viewing similar situations in Colonia, you'll find it difficult to keep other neutral or Marlinist factions in the system without some very precise work. At 100 million population the 2%/day retreat tax is pretty punishing, too!

General situation for the Marlinists, one month in:
HIP 22550: still reasonably secure, up to 5 factions
Hyades Sector RO-P b6-6: very secure, 4 factions (one PMF)
LP 659-31: under attack from Imperial PMF, 4 factions
Hyades Sector LX-T c3-30: reasonably secure, up to 6 factions (two PMFs)
Hyades Sector SU-C a14-1: reasonably secure, up to 5 factions (two PMFs)
Hyades Sector RO-P b6-2: reasonably secure, up to 6 factions (one PMF) with heavy Federal presence
Hyades Sector VP-N b7-4: system captured by Federal PMF "Sirius Special Forces" (4 factions)
Hyades Sector AB-M b8-2: system captured by Independent PMF "Omega Merchant Command" (4 factions)

...not a surprise under the circumstances, of course.

2 systems already had PMFs stealing control from marlinists, but clearly the call to arms only happens when it is an imperial one doing it

It also doesn't help that Frontier didn't spread the origin systems for the marlinist factions very well (or maybe they did, I don't know how the origin systems is getting detected when there isn't an obvious name). Half of these systems in the future could have no marlinists at all.

Eight factions, eight systems - I think that's been arranged as one native per system, hasn't it?

The one CG not too long ago that had you delivering supplies for the Marlinists was going to a player group, so FD will involve PGs at some level. The only question is how much will FD allow PGs be involved with the CGs and background stories.
