Empire, Federation or Alliance

Greetings fellow citizen, I too serve the royal princess! I don't think that's the same thing as belonging to a faction, however. I am still a little confused regarding PowerPlay in general.

Playing on the PC, I had a nice base system and station, that I favoured, Federation, of course, and spent a bit of time allying myself to the Federation linked factions in the neighbourhood. I dabbled with PowerPlay, but never really got deep enough into it to see results. From what I recall, it's a good way to entrench yourself into a political system, with various 'rewards' dependant on you doing certain varied tasks. It seemed to me to help with the roleplaying I was doing, and it certainly increased the number of NPC encounters I was getting, as I was now a target for the other political groups.

My recommendation would be that you start off doing some missions for factions aligned to the major faction (Fed, Imp, All) of your choice, to get some reputation up in that allegiance (it does help getting similarly aligned missions with better rewards when you do so).

Sort out whether you want to base yourself in a particular area of the bubble, or are happy going anywhere, and then decide if you want to get into PowerPlay.

Just my opinion, but it worked for me.

This is how I play the game. o7

I am a big fan of the Transformers universe and in particular Lockdown, always loved that concept of being a rogue Bounty Hunter/Assassin who answers to nobody but the highest bidder and it tends to resonate in any game i can get away with that character type.

Salutations fellow Citizen! Power Play can be a whole other way to play ED. I would suggest not going anywhere near it to start, unless you like lots of NPCs interdicting you on a regular basis. (I gave up as I got annoyed by the OTT number of interdictions I was getting)

There are various benefits to supporting a power, each has their own rewards like special weapon or shield types, but getting to the highest level takes time and credits. Most players only see things like the closure of all black markets in President Hudson's area, or how all slavery is illegal where Aisling Duval reigns. The best one, imo, for benefits to non-power players is Li Yong-Rui, as you get a 15% discount on ships and modules in systems he controls, which is how Cmdr Jintosh could afford to buy her Python :)

That 200% bonus on exploration data is not to be sniffed at either.

Yes, yes I know it takes a lot of work. I've done all my due diligence thanks. (That's not aimed at you Jintosh, but to the inevitable replies I get whenever saying anything like this!)

True, but I normally only sell my exploration data at stations controlled by the minor faction I'm allied with / trying to get allied with so I've never been able to benefit from it, but discounts on ships is always welcome not just for the price reduction, but for the re-buy insurance premium reduction that goes with it :)

Yeah the Courier is nice, will definitely rank up enough in the Empire to get that.

I like the look of the Imperial Eagle but performance wise its lacking, i've seen milk turn faster. Could maybe engineer it

Heheh there's me telling you not to forget the Courier and I go and forget the ieagle :D

I have one with black Friday paint and engineered drives too! Very pretty and still fast. Another keeper.
