Empire Rank Progression Bugged?

So I have been playing Elite for some time now and in the course of playing I have ground out a few ranks of the Federation.

The Day of the 1.3 Patch I decided I wanted an Imperial Courier and sent off to deep empire space to grind ranks.

3 successful Imperial Navy Ascension Opportunity missions later and I am still ranked "None". When the missions clearly state on completion I will become an "Outsider".

So my question is this a bug? If so, has anyone experienced this before and is there a solution?

Also, since the 1.3 update I have had a this weird issue where if I get a bounty from shooting someone who is clean, I then can't clear it via docking and paying it off. Even though I'm in the correct system and even the affiliated station. Fines can be cleared just like normal though.

I've been trying to do the same thing for a week but got stuck on knight since 1.3 started. The latest patch seems to be better as I have moved to friendly with Empire now whereas it has been stuck on neutral since 1.3 hit.

There are a few bug threads on the bug sub forum. From the patch notes, they did some work in 1.3.1 but from the bug report they clearly have not got all cases.
If you can remember the details of the mission (where you got it where it was going/what you had to do) and time, then add a reply to one of the bug reports. Otherwise to speed things up note the details and times for the next one "waste your time doing it" and post a reply to a recent bug report - as there are many bug reports with no details others than "it does not work", which although brings this to the attention of developers does not help them understand why something they thought should work, even did some rework still does not work.

I'd like these to be fixed as well so raised a bug report, just to rub it on when I completed a Federal Ranking mission I became Marquis in Empire and no rank progression in Fed.

Rank progression was vague and a bit of a mess pre 1.3
It appears to still be vague and a bit of a mess...

I ranked up yesterday. Imperial rank missions aren't bugged as far as I can tell.

Not being able to pay off bounties straight away is part of 1.3 - read the patch notes for more info

You are so lucky. I envy you.

I've been an "Outsider" since PP started. Completed 6 "Become a Serf" missions since then (including another yesterday after the latest update). Still an "Outsider". It's embarrassing flying around supporting the Empire in a Fed/Alliance made ship. Like a Hell's Angel riding a Vespa. I need a full-patch Empire player to sponsor me...

Is it possible that we no longer get a major faction rank for every ascention mission we complete?

Progression did seem to quick tbh.

I would rather have more missions (and progressively more difficult) than none showing for ages and being too easy.

No, you are supposed to get the rank it says in the mission, not just have a chance of receiving it. The naval rank progression, even in this "overhauled" mission system is just abysmal, if this is FD's idea of rank progression missions at their finest then I weep for the future of this game.

Ok seems this is a wide spead problem next time this happens to me I will document it and submit a proper bug report. Good news though I was able to rank up last night. On my 5th ascension mission had another mission to move cargo and decided to buy a hauler real quick so I could move all that cargo. On completion of the ascension mission I ranked up to outsider. So maybe switching ships is a work around for people having this issue too.

I did two progression missions still in 1.3, rising from knight to viscount. 1st one was assassination mission, 2nd one a "retrieve the stolen plans". Both gained me a rank each.

There is a simple way to monitor this problem, add a percentage value to naval reputation and see if missions make it go up and failed missions make it go down 2 ranks.

This is bugging the hell out of me. I ran like 5 or 6 naval advancement missions that said they'd advance me to serf, and I'm still stuck at outsider.

Ok I give up on this. I've lost count of how many of these ascension missions I've done, must be 10 or more, and nothing's happening. I bought a cheapy Eagle to try switching ships, nothing. I've restarted the game a few times, nothing.

I'd put in a support ticket but the last time I tried that it took them 3 months to reply to it, and then they flagged it as a bug report with no action necessary and said I should reopen the ticket if I needed further help. Which obviously I didn't bother with.

So meh. Call me when you fix your game Frontier.

I had the same kind of thing happen. Ran three imperial navy ascension missions trying to get to baron from lord. I know they said imperial. It was from an imperial station in an all imperial system. Yet some how, I am now a federal "cadet" even though I dislike the Feds more than I can explain with words. The third one did finally give me Baron rank but I still want nothing to do with the Federation. I would like my cadet rank removed.

Same s**t happened to me.

'Serf' mission gave nothing then I got offered a 'Knight' mission which gave me nothing then another 'Serf' mission which gave me exactly nothing.

Tried to make a ticket and I couldn't even do that, I have tried three times and show as 0 open tickets.

Not Happy or fun.
