Newcomer / Intro Empire ranking so I can try out the Imperial Clipper

G’day all, I want to start working on my Empire ranking so I can try out the Imperial Clipper. So to make a long story short could someone tell me what the best system would be to do this?

Thanks

You mean best star system or best strategic system?

Star system doesn't matter, as such. Strategically, selling exploration data works a treat. Completing missions for the appropriate faction, also.

Note that Baron is quite a long way up the Imperial ranks - you won't achieve it in 5 minutes. Currently I'm a squire and there are still quite a few ranks left before baron. That said, the clipper does look quite a nice ship although it has the drawback that it can only dock in large stations, not at outposts.

Clipper is a sexy looking ship, and it is a very good Armoured Trader (better than the T7). However, the landing pad issue is a big one which restricts trading and makes it utterly useless as a Mission ship. The tiny fuel tank makes it a poor explorer. The very high price makes it poor as a true Combat ship, 1 bump into an asteroid will cost you 2mill, there are better and much cheaper ships.
Dont make it your "goal", it will disappoint.

Sorry have to counter your don't make it a goal (somewhat). Just got mine so I can't discuss all points. However, it is a beauty and flies like it. It is a great armored trade ship. No one messes with me now. I was id'ed constantly in my T-7. It is pricey but repair costs are way down now. I was down to 60 % hull and it only cost me 10k to repair. I made mine a goal and I love it. It isn't the MOST useful ship out there but it is lovely for my purposes.

To answer your original question, any Empire system will do. Find missions that give rep and do those. Make sure you continually move around to different systems as the "path" can bog down at times if you stay in one place. Best of luck!

Some systems have Empire and independent factions. Make sure the missions you accept are the ones for Empire aligned factions.

Similarly only trade and hand in bounties/exploration data in at Empire aligned stations.

The clipper is worth the bother. If you do use it for combat, make sure you know how to smuggle into a station using silent running as you will inevitably become wanted at some point and cannot use outposts to pay off your fine.

Use the Galaxy map filters to locate the Empire region

pick a high tech system with a cluster of Empire systems around it as your base

Trade and mission from BB for factions aligned to the Empire

repeat

FWIW Zelano is a handy system, you have agricultural and industrial worlds next door to eachother and chapsugaibo is not that far (1 jump in a decent ship) and is high tech. Chaps doesn't ban tobacco so you can ship tobacco one way and PEs the other for nice profit in between doing missions.

Th docking issue applies equally to the T7, although I think the T7 will carry more, ultuimately. The other alternative in similar price range to the clipper is the federal dropship - which has medium pad size in its favour but apparently handles like a barge, and is also quite slow. The ship I really fancy is the Python, but 50+ M credits :(

Trading between any 2 Imperial Stations and doing missions for them at the same time is a great way to progress. After each Rank mission its best to move onto 2 different Imperial Stations and repeat the process. you will gain rep with different individual factions within the Empire, which also counts as rep with the Empire itself. I found that just hitting friendly with each faction was around about the time a rank mission would appear.. then id complete the mission, and move on to another location. the way the mission board resets can be a pain in the rear, you may find that you can pick up another rank mission immediatly.. if it is the same type of mission ignore it, it wont rank you again it just means the mission board hasnt refreshed. i found this site handy, lets you see what to expect for each rank up Imperial Ranking best of luck Commander.

actually the clipper can have more cargo than the T7 ;) That was the main reason why I sold my T7 and bought a Clipper instead+ it's much much faster even faster than the cobra in boosting... I haven't used it in quiet some time now but I beleive the clipper can hold 30Tonnes more than the max of the T7(not entirely sure about the amount though)

I used Vequess for my base of operations while ranking up in the empire, soon as you get the permit for Facece (right next to Vequess) the missions where you need to find X amount of X items becomes very easy, Facece seems to have pretty much every item in their system somewhere.
On a side note, you'll love the Clipper. Just make sure you have a hell of a lot of credits for upgrading.
