Empire Reputation?

I have been working for the Empire since gamma 1 I had one mishap with some cargo I found at a USS which set me back to unfriendly from being neutral. Been running missions, trading, bounty hunting and helping out in the wars of Sorbago and Duruis. in the hopes to gain more reputation within the Empire.

I have managed to get to Earl status and I am still neutral to them. How can this be with only 1 fine of 20k and possibly 1 or 2 failed missions ?

Still neutral myself.

As far as I'm aware you rank is not linked to the overall rep with the faction. You need to get many of their allied factions green to you.

I got Empire friendly status this morning as a Lord. Most likely you need to be on friendly terms with alot of different systems. In some systems I got to friendly merely by trading a few runs, while others required dedicated mission running. Perhaps the amount of inhabitants play a role to this? Also doing business with the dominant faction in the system ( if they are Empire supporters ) is to prefer.

So trading 100 tonnes of palladium and mineral extractors for 7 days and getting allied with both stations through doing it doesn't count for much then I guess. :(

Who knows! The leaders of said stations might remember your dedication down the line :D . Perhaps it's time you tried a different approach, like the one I mentioned. Though I don't claim to be correct, that approach yielded results.

well i got earlier to friendly with empire. rank baron.

but i did alot of mission trading with cobra while getting ranks.

also i've traded about 20 million in profits also which helps

I do think the faction wars help a lot - I've downed something like 80 odd enemy ships (most dangerous, deadly or Elite) and have manage to become Allied. I did have a friendly status beforehand - mainly from achieveing Allied status with one sub-factions and doing a boatload of bounty hunting of higher value targets - but was nonetheless surprised to see I was Allied yesterday PM. I think the high intensity zones help a lot.
