Empire - Unfriendly

Hi guys.

When I first started the game I decided I would like to try & go down the Empire path.

When I was still learning the ropes a little bit I got fined around 60,000 credits for taking some stolen slaves into a station.

ever since then the Empire have remained unfreindly no matter what I do?

Ive done loads of missions around Egovae/Yawa etc & done lots of rep gains missions but still im seen as unfriendly.

infact im now an Empire Master & have just been summoned to Achenar but yet im still unfriendly?

What the hell is that all about & what do I need to do to sort it out?

Erm. Do not kill anyone, and do bulletin missions and trading.
The first part about not killing anyone is incorrect. The second one is. See my FAQ in the sig below on this stuff. I was Hostile to feds and now I'm allied.

Edit: also pay attention who you are doing missions with. You may be docked at an empire station but doing missions for their enemies, and they will hate you for that.

Apart from the fact that you can kill targets allied with Empire factions, even though they are criminals, you risk a hit to your standing. You see if they are allied with the correct faction later, when they are appropriately coloured.

As I said, you are not correct. You can kill anyone you want and there are no reputation repercussions to that, as long as you are doing what you are doing legally. The only exception are kill missions, but it's the missions themselves that will hurt your rep - not targets.

erm, just a quick question..

lets say your a pirate, but you have friendly reputation with the imperials, but are heavily wanted in federation space. Are there any benefits one might gain, such as if your attacked in imperial space despite your wanted status, what consequences may the opposing player face, and will the imperial local security forces come to your aid regardless of reputation with said other factions?

aside from reputation, does faction rank offer any benefit? apart from access to other ships?

If you say so. When I was testing out the system, I got reputation hits when engaging in combat outside of taking combat missions. Maybe something has changed, maybe I'm just crazy, or maybe I've missed something. But there was a reputation hit, so I just avoided combat for a while. And that is not incorrect, for it happened to me, for whatever reason(s) that might have applied. They're all green to me now, so I was doing the right thing, of that you can be sure. :D

Local authority will come to your aid (unless they are busy), regardless of your rep etc. Normal rules for police apply. I've seen nothing special regarding rep and activities in USS or nav beacons.

Rep benefits include (besides ships) - revealing some targets legal status instantly 20ish% discount on fuel, and nothing else really relevant from what I've seen. I think I've seen some sidewinders escorting a hauler come to my aid once, but that's about it.

I thought the same until I tested this a lot. It was something else you did that hurt your rep with the major faction or that specific faction (kill/assassination mission or inuring bounty on yourself, or accepting an alternative mssion) that you may have done on another system and then when you entered the system it showed you that you lost rep.

You get access to more bulletin board missions, but to be honest, after getting max rank, the selection has been rather spartan compared to ah... expectations.

There was actually one more odd thing that may or may not be true. When I was buying gold and changed my mind and wanted to sell it back, I was able to sell it back at 0 profit. Haven't done enough testing to confirm whether this was only with allied stations.

I became unfriendly with Federation and it seems that every single Fed group is unfriendly but I was able to get one to friendly and 2 to neutral... Do I need to raise them for every minor group in the Federation or will they all go up eventually ? And is there millions of these groups?

Happened to me after getting friendly with the Feds in Gamma. One scan and instantly unfriendly with every single fed system. It's now about two months and still unfriendly. Sandro said this was fixed... it's not. Send a ticket and private message Sandro. I still haven't heard back and you are not alone. This is a game killing issue.

I was hostile with the federation and hence all of their minor factions. Became unfriendly/neutral/friendly/allied with a handful of federation systems and my federation rep went back to neutral. It takes a while and I can't tell you how many minor factions you need to improve your rep with, but certainly a few rather than all.
