Empire weapons

As the title suggests i was wondering if there are faction exclusive weapons if you are allied/ranked with on of the 3 factions.
Currently i am allied with Empire and friendly with Alliance and Feds. Unfortunately i haven't been able to rank up in Empire since i can't find any missions so i presumed it has something to do with rank(?).
Can anybody confirm if they exist?

As far as I know, no there are no faction specific weapons.

That said.

I have personally never seen Plasma Accelerator weapons for sale anywhere except Empire space.

Well they're not exactly lasers, but IIRC Plasma Accelerator shots are blue :p (And I think the blue beams from the Imperial Capships are super-sized Plasma Beam accelerators like those seen in Frontier: Elite 2.)

I have seen the Plasma Accelerator for sale in Federation space - almost daily where I am at.

Plasma accelerators are available everywhere. I thought they looked sort of purple but I'm colorblind and have probably played too much wipeout hd...
