Empty or no return: Banned by my own router from launcher and all things Frontier.

I got fibre installed yesterday. Feels like I joined to modern world.
Except, along with the new install (new router etc), I’m now unable to log into the launcher or even access frontier.net.
Oddly, the rest of the internet appears to work fine.
Clearly there’s some setting I can’t find that is stopping things.

Launcher says that there is a zero or empty return from server.
Frontier.net returns an err_timed_out error on chrome.

Anyone else had this?

Router is a icotera i4882.
Any advice greatfully
Appreciated!

Don't suppose anything from this thread helps:
Alas no. I tried each point, but to no success.
Have you tried to ping the AWS servers?

For example:

I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at, but if I'm hitting the uk one in 32 ms, thats ok right?

Hope you get it fixed. There are bound to be lots of threads on this forum with tips from way back, some of which might still help.

IIRC, UPNP can help to make things work smoothly (and prevent you from having to manually set up port forwarding), but it's a long time since I played with these settings on my own system. When it works, I tend to leave it alone ;) Maybe you configured your previous router ages ago and have since forgotten? Or maybe it had UPNP on, and the new one doesn't?

I have exactly the same problem. The launcher worked once tonight then around 1am my time the game kicked me off and will not let me log in again. Tried your runtime install suggestion but apparently .NET is up to date. I haven't installed anything since the launcher worked last. What's the deal?

EDIT: after verifying files and restarting and attempting to update .NET I finally just uninstalled ED, restarted and reinstalled. That last one fixed the issue.

After further investigation my problem has turned out to be an error in my internet connection. A reset of both my router and the Ethernet plug corrected the issue.

and the only other thing I can see, but I don't like this one.

Change EDLaunch.exe.config - In C:\Program Files (x86)\Frontier\EDLaunch (Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous) you will find a file named EDLaunch.exe.config. Firstly, make a backup this file by copying it to another location such as your desktop. After that open the EDLaunch.exe.config file with a text editor such as Notepad. You'll see a line with something similar to: <supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/> Delete this line leaving just the line underneath: <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/>, save the file and run the launcher again. this help me

If the router was supplied by the ISP, I'd reach out to them too.

1. Not really because I think ED uses the Irish AWS for UK users.

2. Those numbers look awful to me but then again I am on full-fibre, your fibre should be much better than shown.

3. At least it shows you can hit AWS servers, now maybe you need someone who knows what ED is actually trying to connect to.

4. have you tried using a VPN to run Elite? I have not used one in ages but there should be a free version you can have a go at.

good luck

P.S. Here my results (not sure I fully believe them) BT / EE full fibre (FTTP):

The ping feedback is appreciated - I will definitley go back to the ISP ref that. Its a 500mb fttp, so as much as I naively assumed that they were good ping rates, they should be in line with your and Dougie's expectations.

Could it be the latency that causes the server not to respond?

I went back through the old router setting and did find a forwarding rule - Copied that onto ne w router jic. but launcher not connecting to server means that I cant get to the game's network settings to configure that end.

I appreciate all of the pointers. .NET fully up to date. ED reinstalled, with full router, fttp plug and PC restarts.
Will try editing the config file shortly.
