Empty platinum hotspots

I've just fired off about 60 limpets in two different platinum hotspots (Robigo 1 and another in a nearby system) and none of the rocks had any platinum content at all. Both hotspots had pristine reserves and I tried leaving and re-entering the ring but still didn't find a single rock containing platinum. Absolutely nothing.

Has platinum been taken out of the game or something?

ED can be so frustrating at times

A CMDR must be above the rank of Peasant to be able to even look at let alone find metals as precious as Platinum.

Have you tried in a Metallic rind as apposed to a Metal-Rich one? I have not had much luck(like you) in a Metal-Rich ring hotspots, I'll have to try Metallic later to see since like 3 weeks or so ago I was finding Platinum like crazy.

Platinum can only be laser mined in Metallic rings. According to eddb.io:
Robigo 1 A Ring - Metal Rich

Hotspots in Metal-Rich rings only increase the chance of a core being Platinum.

Mining can have good days and bad days. Sometimes I arrive at a hotspot and the first 10 rocks I find are all worth mining, and 20 limpets fills half my hold. Other times I've used 40 limpets and only found 10t of ore... I rarely find more than two void opal cores in a mining session (though have usually filled up with LTDs and other stuff that is around). If you mine anything of value (which I count as can be sold at over £200k, or will fuel my FC ), then you'll do more collecting and less hunting.

I know what you mean, been getting high off all those tritium fumes from my FC , since I checked and yep the place I was mining looking for plat (and not finding it) was a metal-rich not metallic ring.

You can't go round blaming Latvia.

This happened to me yesterday. Jumped to a known system to mine... scanned the rings and found the hotspots.. I logged out and did stuff in real life.. came back and the rings were back to looking normal like I was in combat mode.. I could still see the hotspot waypoints though and went in.. after 30 minutes of prospecting and finding nothing I left.. went back to carrier and relogged.. went back to same spot and found 500t in 2 hours. I chalked it up to an instance glitch or something.
