Empty seat in ship, maybe fill with butt of animal friend?

I was looking at the empty seat in my Cobra, and thought having a dog/cat sitting there would be cool. Like the cat from Alien. Just hangs out on the ship. Little buddy to keep you company during long trips. (Little, IMMORTAL buddy. Don't want to anger PETA.) I don't expect it to be a high-priority edition, (far more important matters to attend to first), just something to keep in mind for the future.

If it was anything like my real-life feline co-pilot he would spend as much time sat right in the middle of the scanner or sat on the pilot's lap attacking the hand on the control stick.

Kind of a waste of programming effort I would have thought, but I have nothing against it as long as I can turn it off.

The cat would be strapped to the chair because inside the ship you always have zero gravity unless docked at a rotating station. When docked, you have 0.1 Earth gravity which is still very low.

So, PETA would rebel nonetheless, and rightfully so, as strapping a cat onto a chair in zero gravity is essentially abuse.

You realize that there is no artificial gravity right? I'm still not sure how they're gonna implement walking around ships without it... maybe it will be allowed only at a station :/

The dog/cat would have to cope with weightlessness.
I would love to have a cat on board, but can't see it work.

Well, it was just a thought. Humans are known to change their furry friends according to their needs. Almost all current dog and cat breeds wouldn't exist if some human hadn't bred them to be the way they are. I think with human intervention, other species could be space-worthy and with this game being set so far in the future, humans have a lot of time to intervene.

But, yeah, for the game it's probably a waste of time and resources...

Strange... I thought of this:
