Empty USS....stop it with this nonsense already

I've had strings of three or four USS with no one in them. I get that "ships won't stay there forever", but USS I instantly drop in are empty, where other times I'll wait minutes before dropping in and find an instance. This can't possibly be by design.

If players in open inherently cause a USS to exist or clear it out, then I should have a chance of entering their now-empty instance, sure. But I'm playing in solo...at no point should I find an empty USS, let alone with such frequency. It's 100% unfun.

I'm not even saying that every instance should be rewarding or useful. I'm absolutely sick of running into sergeant technology acquisitions, but at least I can be angry at him....I could pirate or kill him for no reason, or I could just fume and leave. Sidebar, maybe if he had 400 semiconductors or like 20 superconductors it could be at least a little profitable to pirate him, but right now he seems like a pretty useless instance. But at least it's not *empty*.

It's not empty.

They're there watching.

Waiting........

OT, i was running into a string of these last night and i agree it's annoying, have you tried raising it as a bug it's probably just something not loading?

What is the range of your sensors? As noticed a lot of ships outside 5km range.

I'd prefer an emtpy USS to a USS with one of those ships wanting to buy tech. They seems to be everywhere.

Especially when I am looking for something else.

Plus they mass lock you.

I've had this happen to me too - some unidentified signal source that when you track it down is empty... I put it down to a mystery for now.

As someone else said though, quite a few times I've dropped in and there's been nothing there and then waited for a bit... and something has shown up.

Still having this issue. My sensors are A grade and I've seen it quite a few times today, I even saw a SSS that was empty. Can we fix this?

Have had this countless times, on the odd occasion you can catch up to the ships, if you know which direction to fly in to go looking. Most of the time you will see this behaviour when the ships literally exit the signal source before you reach it, you can actually see them leave in SC from the source.

That's not the case, unless they're high waking out of the USS. Either way it shouldn't happen, it's a terrible unfun waste of time.

A grade sensors....Lolz

post some pictures/screenshots ... by your accounts at least 6 or 7

I've had 2 in 2 weeks..... so I'm not saying you're wrong about it happening... just a little over estimation on the numbers here.... lol

try logging out and back in to change your instancing... worth a shot :)

Had this happen a few times. Put it down to lag and it not registering you have entered safe drop out distance.

I get a bit closer so well within dropout zone. No more empty instances.

This is what I did when it was happening. I'd cause it by dropping from SC the moment I was able to.

Similar thing happens at stations, I drop immediately and I'm about 100kms from that station.

I wish they would:

1) Either get rid of USS entirely, or
2) Provide more information about what *might* be in them.

I know there are strong and weak SS etc., but it's a randomised game mechanic that makes me want to do something more entertaining and constructive, like vacuuming.

I had a thought that you could use a detailed surface scanner to scan them and it might tell you basic information like "2 small ships" or "1 medium ship and 2 small ships" or something.

Gave up the FD "wild goose chases" months ago. Especially if they are part of doing a mission of any kind.

USS = waste of time.
