So, couldn't wait for planetary landings and crafting to tie me over I bought Empyrion, so far it's kept me busy trying to make it in the game, and just make me want ED to add the landings and mining, crafting ASAP, but for now I will keep myself satisfied with this game, would I recommend it, yup, it is interesting, I've only scratched the surface as I try to build a proper base and land vehicle, then a space craft to leave my imprisonment on the starting planet.

There is already a thread for Empyrion in the space/sci-fi gaming section.

That said.

I have Empyrion, backed it very early, its an o.k. game. But planet wise, theirs are around 8km diameter, whereas I'm playing/testing the dev version of SE (Space Engineers), you can choose planet size the largest in the version I have (slightly older version than the current) is 120km diameter, but they have a full planet in there that is over 3500km dia (size of the smallest real planet, I believe). That could be too large (performance wise for most players), so they came back with the idea of giving the players the choice of planet size (via in-game slider) to suit their own gaming setup. I'm not sure what the max size will end up, but for now in the dev version I have, the max is 120km, more than big enough I feel. I must admit it feels full size even though its nowhere near a full size planet, but in a game it feels real.

Planets are to be released very soon in SE, they PG as you travel through an endless universe. There are seamless planetary landings, it will probably have atmospheric flight, plus of course SE has absolutely no loading screens of any type. Now that is going to be very difficult for Empyrion, which as I said is an o.k. game, but its going to be difficult because it will get dwarfed by the size of SE. Plus we think there are some other surprises coming too, survival wise.

I do have Empyrion, but I don't play it much to be honest.
